Eternal Sunshine
I was going to update my old thread but since it's over 90 days old, I didn't have that option. So 6 months later, I am a bit bored in my new job (it's mostly working from home thing that I find depressing). It's also hard to say if things would be better if I wasn't in a COVID lockdown and had the freedom to pursue other hobbies. Interestingly, someone from the job that I left called me recently. Basically, I was told that they realised that they took me for granted and how much work and stress I was under. They had to hire multiple people to do my old role and they are still not doing everything that's needed. So they wanted to offer me a position that would be a promotion to the job I left (also with a higher salary). The organization has also restructured somewhat, so I wouldn't have the same manager (I really didn't get along with this person). I told them I would think about it. I am hesitant because this would mean my life would go back to being all about work. It's a global, executive position so I would be working at all hours. I didn't really get a chance to experience a life without that stress because COVID screwed it all up. I know that COVID won't last forever so...not sure what to do.
snowboy91
I wouldn't call it a simple decision. Ultimately it's up to you, but you have to consider what sort of life you want to lead and what your values are. It sounds like you value work-life balance to some degree. Taking the other job would mean a higher salary, but what's the point of a higher salary if you're too busy and stressed to enjoy it? On the flip side, is your current job enough for you to live your desired lifestyle? Will the other job be stimulating and enjoyable for you despite taking up more of your time? Add in the Covid situation - do you feel as if you've got too much idle time and this other job may fill more of it? A lot to think about. If I were in your position, I probably would stick with the current job considering I'd still want some time to enjoy life, but you may think differently.
