Trying to befriend someone who is rude to me

I recently called someone (they live on my town, though we've never spoken) and our conversation went like this:

Her: Hello? 

Me: Do you have a television set?! 

Her: ..... 

Me: HELLO?! 

Her: HELLO! Do I have a television set? 

Me: Yes! 

Her: Um ... I do 

Me: What kind of television set do you have? 

Her: Um ... I have to go 

I called back right back but she did not answer. I know she had to still be home. 

How can I deal with a rude person who hangs up on me in the future?

Don't call her anymore.  It sounds like she doesn't want to be disturbed.

Sounds like the dialogue didn't go well, much like this one.

Abbott: Oh yes, yes, yes...Oh yes, absolutely. Yes, now, on the St. Louis team, we have Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third...

Costello: That's what I want to find out. I want you to tell me the names of the fellas on the St. Louis team.

Abbott: I'm telling ya. Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third.

Costello: You don't know the fella's name?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: Well then, who's playing first?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: I mean, the fella's name on first base.

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The fella playing first base for St. Louis?

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The guy on first base.

Abbott: Who is on first!

Costello: Well, what are ya asking me for?

Abbott: I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. Who is on first.

This is a very awkward try at talking and don't draw conclusions from it. Don't start with brief questions. Do you have a tv? Most everyone does. You sound very young like you have no idea what to say. Just start talking casually with an open question. Not yes or no. Talk about the weather or her neighborhood. Try 1 more time. She isn't rude maybe annoyed or too busy to talk.
