LilySun
If I am already dating someone, or in established relationship, I have no problem with words like, "honey", "baby", etc.  My problem is that I completely and utterly turned off if someone uses these terms too early...I use online dating and after just a few messages exchange, I get called "Hun", or "babe", etc. When this happens I tend to lose all interest what so ever. For some reason l am entirely turned off by the fact that someone uses names of possession before they meet me, and yet to know hardly anything about me. And it only takes 1 time for this to occur before I am already on to looking for the next guy. Am I being way too unreasonable? I mean, I literally get a sick feeling in stomach when this happens. It reminds of men who are the controlling type and I shouldn't judge people too soon, I know, but I can't help it. Is this acceptable for most people? Is there something wrong with me that I am absolutely disgusted by this sort of thing?
d0nnivain
Hun or babe are so generic that the come across as lazy not possessive to me. It's like calling a server in a restaurant or a clerk that when you don't know their name. I wouldn't get too upset but if it bugs you speak up.
Wiseman2
Too much trying to build false "intimacy". "Fluffy" is a better pet name.🙀
smackie9
Â Just have this discussion with your partner. Communication is key. It's healthier to just release what's on your mind rather than stew on it, creating negative thoughts.
Author LilySun
The guy wasn't my "partner", though. We never met. That's my issue, we had only exchanged a few casual messages, that was it. This happens to me often, and it's a turn-off because it's way too early to assume I am anyone's "babe" or hin, I might be ok with "sweetie", if it's not over used that soon. In my mind these affectionate nick names are reserved for someone I have an established relationship with, with these guys it happens before there is even a date..ugh
