Fake Call App.

Recommended Posts

My brother is the only family member I'm in contact with though sometimes I wonder why I talk to him at all. He's not an honest person, to say the least. and is always up to something sly. Tonight he phoned me from home and instead of seeing 'unknown caller' as I usually do when he calls, a strange number came up not even remotely associated with any of the numbers in this area. I didn't know it was him until I answered and he spoke. He claimed to have no knowledge of why it happened.

He's a whiz with computers and is always on it. So on a whim I googled the question as to how it can be someone can phone from home on a different number. I found out there's an app called Fake Caller, or something like that, and knew instantly he was using it when he phoned here.

It gives me the creeps, quite frankly. With him you never know what he's up to. He has no morals or conscience really, though he pretends he does. He phoned here to test that fake number and see if it worked. I know it. Can anyone tell me why he might be using an app like that for and is this something I should be wary of when I answer my phone? What do people in general use those things for....??  I don't know why my brother is using one... he has no wife or kids to be suspicious of...

As a general rule, if I don't know the number, I don't answer the phone.  If it is something important, that individual will leave a message on my voicemail.  If the message requires my attention, I will handle it.

No idea as to why your brother would "spoof" his phone number, but I wouldn't answer it in the future.  If he leaves a message (and it sounds important) call him back.
