Half of Singles Don't Want a Relationship or Even a Date

Most people want relationships. If they don't now, they will at some point. People aren't hardwired to be alone. Studies like this are senseless and are bound to be skewed.

People can find companionship in other ways, though, and the definition of what a relationship is can change over time.

Evolutionary specialists who've studied humans and their intimate relationships have concluded that humans are serial monogamists, which means that they typically prefer to have one partner at a time but that they can move on to different partners over time. Marriage as we traditionally recognize it isn't necessarily all that natural to humans, but it was a product of civilization and a way for families to keep economic and political power, and it was an institution developed and maintained almost exclusively by men.

Social and technological changes are challenging marriage institutions in profound ways, and this will no doubt have an impact on how we view marriage. For some, it will redefine how they view marriage and relationships altogether, and this may be with the OP is referring to.

You're right that (most) people aren't hardwired to be alone.  But good relationships with friends and family mean that a person isn't alone.

Basically, to give a very simplistic overview, history shows us that female sexual liberation usually leads to the downfall of civilisations and that’s why I feel marriage was instituted- it gives men a positive role in furthering society because they have a family to invest in and take care of and women have a stable platform to raise kids in. However the nanny state has taken over the role of the husband, contraception has allowed women sexual relations with who they like, leaving a lot of men disenfranchised from society as they won’t ever have a family to be productive for- hence the rise of the man child which is not good for wider society, especially if more and more men turn to crime to get their kicks . This isn’t me bashing anyone I should add, just a dispassionate analysis of how our liberal society has perhaps become too free. We are still in the early days yet but I can imagine in two or three generations time society agreeing that actually the best paradigm for *most* and for functioning society is stable marriage based women preferring to be the caregiver and to stay at home while the man is the breadwinner. Whether capitalism can put that genie back in the bottle and go back to housing and living being affordable on a single wage though is another question entirely.

I too would like more information on the history of female liberation and downfall of civilisations.

Further, are you suggesting that removing financial and legal independence from women leads to better civilisation?

Noah's ark only included animals, what did you expect? 🦍🦍🦏🦏🦌🦌🐎🐎🦛🦛🦘🦘🐫🐫🐂🐂🐄🐄🐖🐖🐏🐏🐘🐘🐢🐢

A lot of animals mate for life, or for a season or spend most of their time solo except to mate.

@Some_username1, it’s hard to read what you have posted and not think that you believe that less freedom and autonomy for women is a bad thing for the world.

And that get’s my hackles up.
