Pausing a Spouse Visa

Recommended Posts

I posted my story about my current relationship in another post so I will keep this short and to the point.

I want to divorce my wife of 1 year (worse decision I've made) as I wasn't interested from the beginning but she refuses to agree with the divorce and want to finalize the VISA so she could come to UK and "talk" this through.

Currently the VISA is handle by my caseworker and is currently in talks with my wife doing her questionnaire.

2 part question,

1, Can I put the visa on hold if it hasn't reached Home Office yet.

2, I think my solicitor has all the main documents to grant the VISA but it's outdated like the messages between the wife and I, I gave them screenshots of our chats from Dec 2017 to July 2020. Do they need the latest messages to continue with the VISA?

I dont want her to come to UK as this may cause more problems.

Talk to an attorney about having the marriage annulled. Stop all the visa paperwork. Your attorney can advise you.

In some countries sham marriages are illegal and you may face consequences for whatever deal you made with her/ her family.

Get An Attorney.

These are all specific Qs that have to answered by a lawyer.  Get in touch with your solicitor.  I know in the US that once you marry & the person gets here, you have to pay a certain minimum in support as defined by immigration authorities.   You cannot rely on answers to legal Qs that you get from international lay people.

If she doesn't come to the UK, then is it possible getting a divorce in China may be extremely difficult to obtain, especially if she does not agree...
You need to think long and hard about all the reprecussions of denying her and making an enemy of her.
