It was really easy, the actual blood donation takes about 10-15 minutes but there's a screening process first takes another 15. Blood iron levels are tested first.

They gave me a hoodie reward gift, and I've had no after-effects...plus I discovered I haven't gained any pandemic-weight!

I used to give blood regularly, but had to stop a few years ago.  My blood cell counts suddenly were really off (discovered by my GP, not in the prescreening at the donations) and I had several scans and scopes because the blood tests seemed to indicate I might have some kind of cancer.  But nothing was ever found fortunately.  My hematologist told me to stop donating.  My counts normalized after a while.

But anyone who can donate without having any issues should definitely consider it.  I felt bad that I had to stop.

Cool!  Just make sure not to do it too often.  With your health, your veins won't heal quite as quickly and too many needles can cause collapse.

I am not a doc (obviously) but I hear my MIL warn about it all the time.  Probably do it only half as often as other folks, but you can definitely still participate.  And if you need some cash, there's always plasma...

When I was 19 I saw a group of sheet-white guys. I knew some of them to be of olive skin tone normally. It turns out they had just donated blood. Since then I've never noticed any other donors having that issue, but I can't get past that time that too much was apparently taken. I am afraid to donate. I'm grateful for those who do though. My donations are financial.

HappilyMarried

I have to donate blood every two weeks for therapeutic reasons. I have a cyst on my pituitary glad and have to  have my wife give me a testosterone shot every two weeks. However one of the side effects is increased levels  Hemoglobin so I have to go and give blood to lower my levels. I have never had any issues until last week when I almost passed out after my donation. I had to lay down drink two Powerade's and put a ice pack on my head for about 30-45 minutes before I got back to normal. I am kinda of dreading my next donation next week now.
