For a while now, many people have been sporting the sockless look. Hopefully, they’re wearing no-show socks. It’s a feet stinking thought if they are truly sockless. I’ve always thought it was a silly fashion statement. On a recent date with a younger woman, I decided to give the look a try. I purchased comically skimpy no-show socks.  When I arrived for our date. She exclaimed “no socks, gross!”. I should’ve known better. I’m back to regular socks.

It was a 3 pair bundle. I’m not sure if I can sell the 2 unused pair or give them to someone free. Most likely I’ll drop them (all 3 pairs) in the clothing drop box at the supermarket.

Anyway, does the socked vs sockless look factor in your decision to date someone? Do you assume it’s a stinky sockless foot or a no-show sock fashion look?

I enjoy the sock-less look with footsie socks when wearing sneakers.

I don't know about dating reactions or no socks at all, but the very low-cut socks thing has been popular in my area within the continental US for several years now. I've adopted it as well in summer and at the gym (gym is temporarily on hold for me due to COVID).

If your date does that, you can go - "no, I'm just wearing low cut ones, see" or similar.  I also suppose if your date does that, she's a bit rude and/or socially clueless, so I guess she better be cute, heh.

Why are you ditching the socks?   I'd ditch the date.

I thought for sure that "sockless" was code for something else.  Is this really a thing?  I always wear no-show socks.  I don't think it's impeded my dating life.  Can't imagine it would have a negative effect for anyone, really...

I'll allow it. Not my cuppa tea but it's very trendy these days.

True!  If it was dress shoes, then it's a whole different thing

I don't think I've ever gone anywhere (outside my home) without socks on.  I don't wear flip flops or teva sandals, so socks are a necessity.  I can't say socks have ever come up on a date, though.

When I wear my steel toe work boots, I put on two pairs of socks.

My advice... put on comfortable normal clean socks, match your socks to your shoes (of course) - black dress shoes, black dress socks.

If your date doesn't like them or says something, next her.

Why is this? Don't like your toes out?

I'm the opposite, the only time you catch me in socks is when it's 40 and below. I don't even wear socks with boots.

I don't like my toes out...personal preference, I guess...  but I'm also a guy.

Even during the summer, I'll wear thin socks in my home.

I do like open toe strappy heels on a woman, especially when she is wearing her little black dress!!

Should've replied, "No manners, gross!" And winked. Or not.

Well, what of shoes were you wearing, OP?

If it's no-socks-with-dress-shoes look, then yes, it's an awkward look. However, I have to say that I'm not usually looking at men's feet that closely (I'm a woman)

Better to ditch the socks because you can't date a sock. Well, maybe I often dated socks as a teen but it's not a "thing" in my adult life. I stopped dating socks when I started doing my own laundry.

Hmmm. the stereotype is that women always check out a man's footwear. Even testing him by remarking on his choice of footwear. I will say that I never much encountered that kind of thing.

Your date and you seem as incompatible as 2  mismatched socks.👣

Charities don't accept used socks or underwear. Just keep them and try it out on another date.

very casual shoes.   To me. the mere possibility that a man's feet are cooking without socks, puts a smelly thought in my head. Hard to get past that imagery. No offense to guys who are into that sort of thing lol.

I live in Florida.  Not many people wearing socks of any stripe here except the really old guys with their black calf-high socks and white shorts.

Living in the midwest, when I see someone sockless and there is snow on the ground, I think they are idiots.

Women is their fancy little dress shoes stepping over snow banks look ridiculous too.

Believe it or not, the shoes are the second thing most women look at before looking for a ring lol. I do it myself...the shoes/socks says a lot about a guy...not good or bad, but personality wise.

Doesn't factor into my decision at all.  Now socks with sandals, that I will judge a man negatively for.

If it's not your thing, wear socks.

For some woman to comment on it is very rude.  You dodged a bullet by having her self select out of your life.

It was rude of her but I'm still interested in dating her. She is quite pretty. Certainly she isn't long term material. But I'm positive I can have some fun, with or without socks
