Why does my ex tell me he wants to swing by my house after two years. he left me for another girl and is still with her. then when I entertain it he doesn't follow through. is he trying to torment me?

we broke up after five years..left me for someone else..he came back  two years later.. he came back to apologize for destroying me ect.. that was in august.. now in December he contacted me like twice a week apart.. first time talking bout finding my name in his phone with the Purple Heart next to it.. then saying how he was passing by house wanted to come say whatsup but never followed through. He has a gf.. hes a narc.. is he trying to like see if he has control still or has me hooked ..when I entertained him coming over later in the convo he got scared and said he'd love to but its too late and hes tired.. also though he came over in august on his terms to apologize at 2 am..

what you think hes trying to do?

If he's a narcissist then you know he's in trouble with his current partner and he's working on his next choice. They have a way of always coming back to their ex but it's not out of regret, or unsolved feelings, it's out of selfishness, you're his backup plan. If ever you'd be interested in reconnecting with him be aware that he will not offer you a solid relationship, he'll use you as a trempoline to bounce toward his next victim.
