Ellener
For some reason I feel uneasy this year filing taxes, maybe because it's so different from previous years. I've earned less, claimed benefits, even spent more on advertising, recertifications and training...usually I can guess to the dollar any refund or liabilty but I honestly have no idea this year. Anyway the benefits receive their own tax form https://www.thesimpledollar.com/taxes/file-taxes-after-covid-unemployment/ 1099-G which shows up in the inbox of the benefits claim website. And US tax season starts Feb 12 this year https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/2021-tax-filing-season-begins-feb-12-irs-outlines-steps-to-speed-refunds-during-pandemic to give time to reprogram the computers. Trusting that the usual consumer tax filing programs have been updated too!
Happy Lemming
I did all of my taxes (long hand) on paper with a pencil. Actually, everything came out as I had estimated. There were no surprises. I just have to wait until they get the web-sites up and running, then I'll pump it in and file towards the end of February. Personally, I don't trust the software, so I read all the publications that deal with my situation. I fill out the worksheets, double check my math, then I key it all in and I know what the results should be...
