missingu
Just wondering are these signs I will be made redundant? Just curious? In the office the past 6 months there has been a restructure of all staff. It's been kept quiet. They were all made to sign new position descriptions. The boss has come out numerous times and said no one will be made redundant even though there's Automation coming in. Alot of workers are asking to be transferred since the boss has said there will be no redundancy. Both office staff and production staff. About a year ago, (I'm a manager) my manager has stated in meetings that the client who my company works for may be paying our redundancies when the Automation comes in but to keep it quiet. Am I going crazy or am I onto something? I want a redundancy. What do you all think? I have thought about leaving or being transferred but I want to be paid out ? They even asked me if I'd move jobs further away and I said no. The actual client has made a lot of its staff in the past 4 months redundant.
Author missingu
A few years ago I was moved for work. We built up this department with all the staff we needed, and now they are asking all staff If we want to move to another department again. Automation is coming in and I'm wondering if maybe this means that there's a possible redundancy coming up. I can't talk to management as all they do is lie. I am certain that there's something going on. There have been a lot of meetings with people from outside everyday. Management restructure Management has said repeatedly there will be no redundancy. Now miraculously they are asking everyone to move departments. Anyone ever experienced this? I'm keen to see what other think as it's a very stressful time. Thanks
Marc878
Automation means less people. However, some companies will try and utilize the excess workers in other areas. I was sent in to close a plant in 2018. Nothing was said to anyone until the closure was announced.
Wiseman2
Always a good idea to have an updated resume on file. Also a good idea to update your LinkedIn profile and keep current with connections and experience. Decide if it's better to resign or be downsized. You may receive benefits with the latter.
d0nnivain
It's a good lesson in making sure you have transferable skills. I agree with @Wiseman2 it's time to polish up the resume & start looking just in case.
Author missingu
Hi, thanks, in regards to above I have been on a job interview the other day, closer to home and with a different line of work to enhance my current skills. Less money but I am looking and have applied to a lot of jobs. Will wait and see what happens as I wouldn't mind being made redundant but where I work they prefer to move people around to avoid paying anyone out.
