Is it immature to delete your ex off facebook? I just did it. Not because I am angry at her or necessarily think we could make things work, more that things dragged on between us for a long time and speaking with/thinking of her brings up a lot of emotion. Does that make me look spiteful or resentful? I wish her well, I just want to move on with my life. I still love her in fact but for various reasons we simply cannot be together.

What you did is entirely sensible.   Best wishes for moving on.

I've never viewed this as immature, no.

I see a lot of dumpees say this, when really, I suspect they're just trying to find an excuse to hang on and stay connected. I think a mark of maturity is doing what's best for you and not worrying so much about how others might perceive it. If it works for you, then it's the best choice for you.

It's immature to keep an EX on social media,  You are broken up.  They need to be out of your life.  You don't need to see their next relationship & they don't need to see yours.

When you do get a new SO once that person finds out the EX is part of your social network it will upset them & then you get the posts on here where somebody is all upset because their SO liked an EX's post or the EX liked something their SO posted.  It's a mess.  Better a clean full break.

Be done  Separate & move on.

Not at all. In fact the best way to deal with a breakup is to delete and block  the ex from all your social media and messaging apps. Why? because you need to reflect and heal in peace without static from the past. It's not a cryptic message to anyone or for anyone but you.
