Yeah, it's just bullshit really. It's a red flag, a test, a game to see how you respond. If a guy likes you for real, he's not going to tell you to go and look elsewhere. If you really like him, you can continue to see him and appreciate him for what he is. The only context I've heard that comment has been when a guy really means "You need a good man, i.e. ME!"
