Posting a Life Update & Hope for Ex-OM/OW(s)

Recommended Posts

Hey gang,

It's been quite a few years since I've posted or lurked in this forum many moons ago. For those unfamiliar, I was an OM involved with MW for a brief (roughly 1 year) long-distance EA that turned into a one night PA. We were friends and crossed a line, when the reality hit, I walked away once I realized there was no going forward with any relationship or future. NC was initiated and I never went back on my word when I said would respect her wishes and moved on with my life. She did eventually break NC and I ignored her (1) e-mail (sent via FB)

In over a decade since then, I managed to atone and move forward with my own life. It was a struggle emotionally & spiritually but through many trial and errors in my life the right opportunities presented themselves in my mid-20's; education, faith, business and commitment. I graduated from college with a degree, opened a business (unrelated to my degree, oddly enough) and over the course of sacrifice and patience, the right woman walked into my life.

I had always been very honest with the women I've dated over the last decade about my past experiences and something about my significant other occurred to me as we began dating; she wasn't the 'ultimate thrill' or the 'roller-coaster' of the MW but someone I have genuinely grown with over the last several years, we complement each other, laugh with each other, establish boundaries and live within our means. Had I not walked away from MW, I may never of found this unique partner.

I am thankful I didn't compromise and allow MW back in my life or break NC to "find closure", in the end, we make our own closure.

Before we became a long-term couple, I made the decision to open up early on about my MW experience and how it haunted me for so long and part of the realization was that the MW did eventually divorce and you know what? MW did not look for me, the fantasy 'love story' of wrong person, wrong time was simply a myth and that has kept me feeling quite positive over the years.

For those who need to read this, just know that whatever you're going through with your current or former MW/MM, in the end you must ultimately decide the life you want to live and within time, the right opportunities with a *single* partner will be revealed when you're true to yourself. Choices, they're all we have and important to make in order to be whole, so to speak.

I hope this finds everyone well! Past, future, present.

Cheers,

-FC

I remember you Fight Club.

So glad you got past the MW and found your lovely partner. It does not surprise me that she didn't come looking for you on her unicorn.
