The 420 friendly

Recommended Posts

Having had law enforcement in my family, I can be a bit biased against MJ altogether.

I have noticed a newish addition to Match's site....the 420 friendly option. In Florida, recreational use it is illegal, but now medicinal use it's legal. There are some that use it for "anxiety" but not for legit illnesses.

A while  ago I went out with a woman that I found out later that smoked...she backpeddled saying it was for her PTSD, but one day she let it slip that she just smoked it recreationally among a group of 420 friendly friends.

It became a dealbreaker for me, so I ended it.

But sometimes I feel like I'm being a fuddy dud because I think MJ is becoming more accepted in society as legit as beer or cigarettes. In fact, I was invited to some good friends board game nights. I love doing this, but the mother of the adult kids that live with her, she gave me fair warning that they smoke weed over at her place. (not dating this woman, she's married...just small group gatherings).

I could be wrong, but I'm starting to thinking I can't throw a rock anywhere without hitting someone that smokes weed.

That's good. It gets rid of that incompatibility right out from. Basically weed, tobacco etc. smokers/users are usually  not welcomed by weed/tobacco nonsmokers/nonusers.

For some people cigarette smoking is a deal breaker.  For others it's alcohol.  For some it's a religion or political affiliation.   It doesn't really matter & the legality (or not) of the preference is not the issue.  If you don't like some behavior you get to hold out for somebody whose choices mirror your own.

If I ever had to do OLD again I would consider putting "420 hostile" on my profile because that is how much I don't like it.  I was at an outside event with my cousin yesterday.  He smokes.  I spent a lot of time trying to stay up wind of him.   I don't like  & won't date people who smoke tobacco products either.

Like smoking or drinking, whether or not you are "420 friendly" is really a personal preference. I did one time say that I was not opposed to someone smoking (though I had no desire to do so.) But after meeting him for dinner, it was CLEAR he smoked non-stop. His clothing smelled like marijuana. That was a total turn off. I had one drink and left before we ordered dinner. If I do ever have a choice between 420 friendly or not friendly, that'll probably be a deal breaker for me - not because I look down on anyone for it, but because smoking is smoking is smoking, and I hate smoking. (Maybe they need to add an "Edible-friendly" option.🤣)

If you look at opinion polls, 60%+ (sometimes a very big plus) think it is fine to legalize, even if their US state doesn't legalize it.   It seems to have crossed all political views.  So you are likely correct.  I'm guessing from this you are not in Canada where it is legal nationwide :)

I grew up around a fair number of law enforcement guys, all of them thought it pretty bogus it was illegal.  If anything, they'd rail against the drunken domestic violence call, probably the most dangerous and f*ed up they handled.

EDIT: Wait....your user name is QuietRiot, ala the metal band, and you are not 420 friendly?  I'm hoping that is not your user name in OLD or will be all sorts of disconnect :)

I did want to add....basically, if I'm associating with someone partaking in illegal activities, I could be subject to the consequences as well. Like if I get pulled over, and she's holding (the passenger).

I'd be cool with it, as long as there were no consequences.

There will be consequences.  What you describe is called constructive possession.  If there are illegal substances / objects in the car / house everyone inside is deemed to "own" or possess the substances / objects.  Sometimes if the true owner steps up, the charges against the others will be dropped but you have to really trust the character of the other person.

It would be great if dating apps had more features like this as far as lifestyle preferences and potential deal breakers vs similarities.

Yeah, I just googled this and I saw "constructive possession". My dad (a retired cop) taught me that. Even learned it on Smokey and the Bandit where Buford T Justice said that Sally Field's character is just as in trouble as the Bandit is for just being with him.
