Author ironpony
Oh okay thanks. Do you think that maybe this whole saving up for a house thing is too hard, and I should just live paying rent for the rest of my life perhaps, and maybe it's just easier that way, and I will be a load off therefore? There are people who do rent and that is a personal choice. No judgment there but you have to decide for yourself what's important to you. If being a homeowner is important to you why not do some research about what you need in order to reach that goal? You'll have a better idea of what types of minimum savings for a down payment and what income you need to sustain a mortgage for a condo or a house if that is what you want. Look at areas in your neighbourhood or in surrounding areas and what some homes are valued at. If you know what your goals are start forming some idea of what it takes to get you there. It may also influence the kind of career you wish for yourself and make things more realistic for you overall. This will also influence what school or program you want to complete and you may think about how easily you're hired after you finish your program. Whether you rent or own save if you can. I'm guessing you are in your twenties. You have time on your side. Start saving as much as you can and putting some funds aside anyway even if you aren't thinking of purchasing a home any time soon. Aim for what brings you joy and fulfilment too, not what others say you ought to do. It becomes your dream or goal then and no one else's.
