Hey Veronica, see previous post but they are prescription.  I should probably see an optometrist but purchased them on Amazon and they're perfect!

I bought five pairs in different colors and sizes.

Lol. I don’t know why, but when it occurred to me that they may just be a fashion accessory it got my hair up a little. Like…I absolutely know people who have 20/20 vision wear glasses as a fashion accessory, but it kind of bugs me. Like….if I was alive before glasses were invented my eyesight is so bad that don’t think I would be able to work or really even take care of myself! And it kind of sucks. Sorry if I didn’t read the thread as thoroughly as I should have. I guess when I was in school it kind of seemed like glasses were kind of geeky and unattractive. But as an adult I have been able to find stylish, flattering glasses and have never felt that they added to or detracted from my attractiveness. But maybe that’s just because I have always alternated between glasses and contacts.

I don't think its a new trend. I guess the "nerd" look is sexy to some men. But I thought the trend was ditch the glasses and get contacts? The singer Lisa Lobe from the mid 90's wore a cute pair of cat-like glasses. It suits her look, I couldn't imagine her NOT wearing glasses, she may not look the same.

One of my coworkers wore glasses all the time and she got contacts a few months ago. The other day one of our male clients  told her " Where's your glasses? I'm not feeling this new look. The glasses made you sexy."

She was not amused at all.  😆

I wear glasses. Men think that makes me look like a teacher or a librarian. I guess it is a turn on for them or something, lol.

A librarian , def' sexy . Teachers, l have 6 sisters all teachers, plus all their teacher friends l grew up around too and l don't care if l never see another teacher again, l'm sworn of them for life.

Glasses, trend, what trend. Glasses are just hot on the right woman, very simple stuff and l can well understand any extra notices women get wearing glasses.

Ha, just had a thought , wonder if men get any extra attention or what the response is to men in glasses ?.

I have contacts. Not for vanity but for sports. I wear glasses when schlumping around and to give my eyes a break from contacts.

I do have a collection of nice glasses and prescription sun glasses.

I see an ophthalmologist yearly and take the prescription to the optician.

Ordering online is ok I guess if it's just like those drugstore readers.

I always liked girls in glasses.  Don't know why... just do.  Maybe it's because my mom wore them... and I just associated that feature with a loving,  caring girl.  Also... my first real GF as a young adult/teen needed them... so here again... just an association.   BUT... my current GF... she only needs them for reading... and I think they are very cute on her.

Lol, could be, a Uber driver once asked me if I was a teacher.... so you may be on to something there!

Uber driver was hot for teacher.

I had a random man pay me a very sweet compliment the other day.

"Woah, your hubby is quite lucky."

"I'm not married," I said, "but hopefully the mystery man will agree with you one day."

I thought that was nice.

I don't think I was wearing glasses though.

l've never heard guys were thought to have a thing for teachers , l've never known any that have. Most of my sisters went into other fields and businesses later on but to this day still have their teacher thing about them, and l'm still off teachers haha.

Old adage from 1920s poem.

Men seldom make passes
At girls who wear glasses.

A guy I dated many years ago preferred me in glasses.  I remember being kind of offended thinking he liked my looks better with something covering my face😄

Your overall experience of feeling you get more attention with glasses probably has to do with your own positive feelings about it, you mentioned you have "more spring in your step" lately.

I usually feel more reserved when I wear glasses so in turn I feel like I get more attention with contacts.

Before I had laser eye surgery I had to wear glasses for a month, normally I wore contacts. One of the guys at work pulled me aside and said everyone thought I looked hot, like hot for teacher hot! lol they were metal heads.

Just to add, the chain eyeglass lanyards are on trend right now...but you wear them with your sunglasses. First mom jeans and now this. Who would have thunk?

I wear contacts, glasses at home.  Am I approached more or less with them on or off?  I admit I have never thought about that, but now that we are on this subject I can honestly say I don't think there is a difference.  Some people wear them because they hate contacts or can't wear them.  Does it nerd you up?  Well ... It's all relative I guess.  In some cases it can and does make you look nerdy, in others it can make you look "indie rock" or "hipster", and in others it can increase your authority or makes you look intellectual.  I read somewhere in a guide which I consider to be The Bible in the business world (it's a guide written by a man for women to help women succeed in the business world) that it's a plus if women wear glasses because it will increase your sense of authority and make others take you seriously.

So it's all relative.

@poppyfieldsI didn’t know you could purchase prescription glasses from Amazon. Do you just upload your prescription then? I use Warby Parker sometimes and that’s how it works there.

Boy Mom jeans went out of style quick.  I guess it isn't as easy to hide muffin tops in Mom jeans.

Eh, I could take them or leave them.  I wear glasses as a necessity so don't really see them as particularly novel or attractive.

I have seen that others wear glasses fasionably, I don't have a problem with it, just doesn't do anything for me personally.

You wouldn't know it. I looked and they are not what you would call hiphugger low rise, more like mid rise....still wouldn't wear them.

Hey guys and gals, what do y'all think about women wearing glasses?

So many hot women on Pinterest wearing, but anyway, I just bought about 5 pairs off Amazon, different colors, big wide-rimmed, and there has been a noticeable difference in how often I am approached, by both men AND women!

I wore them last night and the man I am dating thought I looked so hot, he could not stop commenting and when we got home.......

I also got approached at the market last week while wearing.

What do you think about this new trend?

I've been using glasses since elementary school so for me it doesn't matter if it's a trend... I need to use them anyway 🙂. I wear contacts most of the time but on the occasion that I have used them for work I do get compliments from both men and women...one told me I looked like a sexy librarian. I think it can be used as an excuse to start a conversation if someone is interested in you ..more so if your glasses are "trendy"...so keep wearing them if you like how they look on you!🙂

Thanks Rome11 and to everyone for all the interesting responses!

To clarify, no one has used my wearing glasses as a conversation starter per se, I just noticed I am being cold approached more often when I wear.

I like how I look with or without, the reason I created this thread was because of the sudden extra attention and how the man I am dating has reacted:

>>I wore them last night and the man I am dating thought I looked so hot, he could not stop commenting and when we got home.......

>>guy I've been dating was going on and on, my glasses seemed to have a powerful effect on him!!!

So thought I'd ask what the general consensus was, if other men (and women) had experienced same or had an opinion about.

Thread can be closed now, thanks again!!

Heh, what do you know... I've been sporting this 'new trend' since my teenagehood started in 1991. In the short window of time, 2004-2005, when I put effort to mold myself into a conventionally attractive female and suffer the diopter-free look via contacts, if I could see through the blur of dryness alleviating eye drops, perception was that it was the same old hit-and-miss... Personally I find men with glasses more attractive than without, but likely has to do with early childhood imprinting of my dad and his intellectual capabilities.

Hope you're having fun in all the colors and shapes of rainbow regardless.
