mortensorchid
Last year, I determined what my purpose in life was : to be a patron of the arts in my city. While on this quest, I have done a variety of things positive (gotten onto boards / committees with theater companies and volunteering). One of the things that I did was contact this guy through Facebook about getting in on the ground floor with him. He and his wife had broken off from another theater company and were striking out on their own to start another. We met up and discussed a few things about starting the company (as well as with others on Zoom meetings) and they said they were going to have their first show ever at another theater company in November. I wrote the founder a few messages through Facebook last month, I said I hope I can make it out for their proposed November show. He read them, no response. As I didn't see anything further on their company (as in anything beyond a basic introduction on Facebook and their Instagram), I decided to contact the theater directly to see what their ticket prices are. So I talked to someone at the theater which is hosting the event, and they said they were going to but canceled as they didn't get any auditions for it. They said they want to do one in December at this same place. I am ... Unsure about this now. They made it public on their Facebook page but they back peddled. Plus he didn't respond to my inquiries. Granted our relationship was not long standing, it seemed to have barely gotten off the ground, but the communication was not good on his end. I mean, I don't want to bother anyone either, but this is not making me feel good about this project. Am I wrong to think this? Or should I just sit tight and wait it out? Blind-Sided
Right now, it's a bad time to start a troop. My kid's school director decided to try to start a troop this time, last year. She rented a building, and everything. But, I don't think it's doing very well just because people don't want to be that close, and in a building together yet. I'm glad you want to support the arts, but it's a thought time for that.
