I (32/f) want to end my 16 year friendship because she (31/f) suggested not exchanging gifts.

Well then, just keep posting things like that so your ex's can comment on them with song lyrics (were the song lyrics suggestive? SOMETHING triggered ex A.) Maybe one day you'll find a girl who enjoys drama with ex girlfriends (especially pregnant ex's - does ex A think ex B's baby belongs to you?) and you'll live happily ever after.

“I hope your baby daddy better not think that he’s the only one but at the end of the day I guess he won”

this can very easily be read as "your baby daddy may have got you now but i'm still into you"

That right there was the problem.  If you can't see that, you're not ready for a serious relationship.

So I called her yesterday and left a vm asking her to call me. I just called 10 minutes ago from another number and she picked up. She recognized my voice and said I’m not going back and forth with you, you’re a liar. I tried to tell her they were just lyrics and she said you’re a liar and that even they were lyrics why did I choose those specific ones to respond with and said again I’m not going back and forth. Then said have a good day then hung up on me…

Take that as your queue to exit stage left. Again, try to learn from your mistakes. A woman who is worth it is not going to be attracted to your drama.

Also, leave her alone and don't call her from unknown numbers. That's stalky-ish and creepy.

I would have reacted the same way, OP

If you can't see that posting song lyrics like that could be an issue, well, you have a lot to learn about how to date successfully. And a lot of growing up to do.

Leave A alone now. She is done.

Good for her. You need to grow up.

Leave her alone before she gets a restraining order. You are already stalking and harassing her calling from other numbers, circumventing her blocks..

She blocked you. You need to let go and you need to stop playing games with your social media.

If your Ex is so skittish like this let her go. There does indeed sound like some drama going on, I can understand the popcorn post (although it perhaps wasn't the kindest thing to do).

Don't let the hot/cold on/off mess with your brain. I suspect if you just move on from both of them you'll ultimately be happier, so long as you find the right woman (and treat her well).

Geez dude, the whole "They're just song lyrics" excuse is lame.

You couldn't be more clear that you're bummed out that your first ex chose another guy over you and you're still into her.

So what you used song lyrics to describe your thoughts, it's no different than writing the words yourself.

Seriously you can't understand this and why your newest ex is totally on point with blowing you off?

my dude, ex's are ex's for a reason.

Leave them both in the past and move on---and don't make people you're dating friends on social media. It just gets messy if you don't demonstrate boundaries.

So is "Mary had a little lamb", but you didn't post that.

That's not the point. You were having an intimate back and forth in public on social media while you were attempting to rekindle a relationship with someone you'd dated before her. Everyone saw it, including A---you were exceedingly messy about it. That's a colossal turn off. A doesn't want to get caught up in any "pregnant ex with too much intimate access to the guy trying to get back with her" dramatic foolishness.

You FA&FO... learn from it... learn how to keep your conversations corralled on that app.  You can target your audience on Facebook.

Publicly going back and forth with an ex who is pregnant by another dude?

Ummm no…..she did not over react.   I don’t like childish drama so I would have dropped this like a bad habit too.

That's a lame excuse and doesn't make it any better.    It's amazing that you still don't get it.  You really do need to grow up.

I think ex-girlfriend A understands this and chunked the deuces.  ✌️

Edit: my response to B was not a lyric - those were my words. I never posted any lyrics, only the the thumbnail from of the song from YouTube.

Then I, stupidly said/replied to B “I hope your baby daddy better not think that he’s the only one but at the end of the day I guess he won”

But they were just song lyrics though…..

I tried to tell her they were just lyrics and she said you’re a liar and that even they were lyrics why did I choose those specific ones to respond wit

Can anyone make sense out of the 4 posts by the Op quoted above? Because I sure can't, they seem completely contradictory.

First he posted exactly which lyrics he quoted, he subsequently defended himself in another post by responding that that they "were just song lyrics". He also told his ex "they were just lyrics and she said why did you post those specific ones".

Yet he then goes back and edits his first post to say "he never posted any song lyrics".

🤨

The post that B responded to was not a song lyric —just the thumbnail.

My response to B wasn’t really a lyric…I changed out some of the words from the song.

then that means you lied to her when she confronted you by saying "they were just song lyrics" when they weren't lyrics.

No, it was not an overreaction at all.  She was justified, and as far as I'm concerned, good for her.  She got fed up with your immaturity and your drama with your other ex.  I don't know what you were thinking posting that on FB.  It was an incredibly dumb thing to do.  You were obviously not really serious about fixing your relationship with A, and this thoughtless facebook exchange with B showed that.  But now you're experiencing the consequences and you can't change it.  Leave A alone, move on, and make better choices in the future.

This.   Absolutely this

Can we just clarify something once and for all?  Whether part of it was song lyrics and part of it wasn't song lyrics, it DOESN'T MATTER.  It doesn't change the overall situation.

OP, if you genuinely don't understand why your ex reacted the way she did, then you're likely to repeat the same mistake and to hurt her in the same way again and again. Your relationship would eventually end. I'm convinced it would be an inevitability. So I think it's best for you both that things ended this early.

If you want to avoid making the same mistake in future, you need to work on your capacity for empathy.

Empathy, yes, why not.

But it wouldn´t hurt to also polish his ideas on relationships, social interaction and (just IMO) ethics.

I'm more confused by the fact that he's presenting himself as a man in this thread, but in his thread of 1st January, he's a woman rekindling things with her ex-boyfriend and fighting with her best friend of 16 years while they were on a girls' night out together.
