Who cares what he tells you? You need to get your own insurance. You are no longer together and you need to start taking steps to be more independent and not rely on him anymore. One day, when he meets a new girlfriend, he won't want to have you on his plan any longer. Don't wait for that day to come. It will hurt you too much.
