ktmrider
In highschool, I thought I love her but it was only "puppy love". In college, I thought I love her but it was only "I love to get into bed with her". Then I met the girl that I know I want to marry. She was smart and we have many things in common. I told myself that I "love" this girl; she will be my wife and the mother of my children. I would do anything for her, and she knows that. But she has questioned my love for her. She said "If you love me, you have call me 3-4 times a day from work. You would want to hug me every morning you wake up. If you are far away from me, you should miss me and call me. I feel that about you. Why can't you feel that about me?" If that is the definition of love, then do I love her? If I can do anything for her and can't show her the love and affection she needs, does it mean that I don't love her? What is love? What is love after marriage? Are there stages of love? I'm so confused about love.
Devildog
The definition of love differs for everyone. To some, it is the outward displays of love that the woman you are talking about wants. That is her definition of love. Those kind of people need the physical displays of affection. For some people love means that you are there for them when they need you. That you will be by their side no matter what they go through. Maybe that is part of the problem with relationships in this era. There are so many different views and definitions of love. Maybe we need to not only find a person we are compatible with emotionally, mentally, philisophically, morally etc.. But also someone who shares our definition of love. It would certainly cut down on the confusion. Of course that would make the search even more difficult to find the right person. I think there are some people that go their entire lives without really knowing what love truly is or what it really means.
