MarcoInaros
If I guy wears glasses (which I have to), do women subconciously sense that the guy is defective or flawed, because he has a visual impariment, and therefore should be avoided? Is this why everyone tells me to wear contacts? I have to wear glasses for medical reasons.
pearlsasinger
If I guy wears glasses (which I have to), do women subconciously sense that the guy is defective or flawed No, I have never thought that ever. I think glasses look intellectual, and with the right frames, sexy.
sundrop
No, To me glasses are not a turn off. I actually dated a guy who wore glasses when his contacts were bothering him and I prefered him to were glasses. So for me no, glasses are not a turn off.
whichwayisup
Well, how thick are they? I don't say this to be rude...But if they're like Bubbles glasses (you ever watch Trailerpark Boys?) then there's a problem. Most people aren't comfy with glasses, they have the option of wearing contacts. I do have glasses but I prefer contact lenses. Mostly because I can't stand taking pictures with glasses on, or being outside when it's hot/cold out - Glasses react to that too. Obviously you know this as you wear 'em... If you are confident then having glasses will not make a difference. Some people look fine, some don't... It's not a deal breaker in the early stages of a relationship. If you're dating someone who is that picky, well, let them go as chances are later in life they will be in the same predictament! (Don't all OLD people, like 75+ wear glasses???) brittanyjean259
it really isnt that big of a deal, if she is that picky well dont really change anything for her, sometimes you will have to where your glasses, you can have laser eye surgrey , than that elimiminates glasses and contacts... but thats a cuple thousand bucks right there:).... if i was with my ex, i would still fantasize about him wearing glases:) thats sexy haha
loony
But if they're like Bubbles glasses (you ever watch Trailerpark Boys?) then there's a problem. True, if they're very thick I'd change to contact lenses. I find some guys can look very cute with glasses. I dig the intellectual cute ones.
TheDiva
Nope. Not a concern of mine. My Husband wears glasses, he hates contacts. A real woman should not be bothered by your glasses. I don't know why any one would push contacts on you. Maybe you should ask them specifically why they suggest it. There are quite a few people that can't or won't wear them. If you need them, there ain't no shame in it.
whichwayisup
I actually think it's the other way around. (some) MEN don't like women who wear glasses...It doesn't come off as sexy and stuff. Would like to know ALPHAMALE'S thoughts on this one...
glittergurl
No turn off to me. Of course some guys pick the ugliest glasses possible, but then it's usually paired with a poor sense of clothing style too. But, in general, I never even paid attention. On the other hand, my husband wears glasses once in a while when his eyes get tired of staring at the computer, and I find it wayyyyy sexy I feel like grabbing him off the chair and push him in the bedroom when he wears them
seahorse
Glasses are sexy. If anyone is shallow enough to judge by appearances alone, they are going to miss out on you aren't they?? That's not your problem - it's theirs. Don't ever change your appearance to please someone else.
RecordProducer
I think they are very sexy and are actually a turn-on for me. But if you look better without them or if they are to thick then it'd be better for you to wear contact lenses. People get used to them easily. I look terrible in glasses so I don't wear mine. Whichever glasses I try, I look bad in them (I am a hat person - all hats look good on me ).
alphamale
Would like to know ALPHAMALE'S thoughts on this one... personally, i think everyone looks better without visual aids hanging on their ears and noses. i started wearing contacts about 7 yrs ago and i would never ever go back to glasses... PDPullmn612
OK maybe since im a guy i shouldnt be replying to this since the question is directed towrards girls and women. But, I have had glasses for three years now, and in all the years i have worn them i have gotten nothing but compliments on how much more intellectual they make me, also a lot of girl say that i look really good in them. So, I think if anyone has to wear glasses all they have to do is pick the right frame for them and they could look really good.

scratch
Glasses are sexy. It's great that you have that opinion, and it is very supportive, but doesn't that render your next sentence hollow? If anyone is shallow enough to judge by appearances alone, they are going to miss out. I want to note this as an example as to why supportive posts are sometimes glossed over without being taken as seriously as negative ones. Presumably, some people prefer others with glasses, and some don't. But the logic of the OP is correct, on some level we are conditioned to see them as a proxy of ill health. If I had to guess, I would say that more people prefer those without than those with. However, glasses are so common that the above analysis has minimal practical impact. I would be suprised if anyone here had an experience where they were only attracted to a certain person if they saw them with glasses, but not without OR vice versa.
quankanne
I think they're a turn on, personally. Unless they're dirty, then ick DH has had glasses for about the past 5-6, I think he looks really attractive even though at first, he was very self-conscious about it. I've worn them for about 30 years, and have hated some of the styles but didn't mind the thought of wearing them. I prefer them to contacts because they don't irritate my eyes the way contacts do. And exactly how many of these girls have you had sex with PDPULLMN612? gee, Alpha, for a chick who was overweight and wore glasses during my hoochie years, I lost count of the men I've banged, not enough fingers or toes. So I guess wearing glasses didn't detract from my ¡ai, mamí! factor
quankanne
look terrible in glasses so I don't wear mine. Whichever glasses I try, I look bad in them RP, have you thought about trying on the "sexy secretary" ones – smaller frames, but more often than not give an illusion of "oh! Sexy!" lol, my niece has a pair that she wears every once in awhile (she prefers contacts, makes it easier while handling the rugrats) and says her husband cannot keep his hands off her :D
RecordProducer
RP, have you thought about trying on the "sexy secretary" ones ... :D I'll check what my BF thinks about it. I might use them as a sexual game - it's a very good idea! Still won't wear any glasses outside.
RainyDayWoman
i think it depends on the guy. some guys can pull it off while others just look kinda gay.
seachange
Unless they're dirty, then ick exxxcellent point, quankanne. i like 'em. but i'm also good without. but if you're going to wear them - frames do matter.

Glasses are sexy, but not essential lol. I wear 'em myself (not all the time, only for driving and watching tv) and if anyone judged me as not being healthy because I wear them I'd think they were mad! My post was intended to be a fully supportive one, and I did mean what I say - if you're put off someone just because they're a little long or short sighted you could be missing out on a beautiful person. I have gone out with men who wear them and men who don't and it never made a jot of difference to me at all.
JayKay
My boyfriend has glasses and he looks HOT. I think glasses make a guy look very smart and intellectual and YUMMY
lindya
Provided you pick frames that suit you, I don't see what the problem is aesthetically. The only criticisms I have are 1. I like to look into people's eyes when I'm talking to them. Not constantly as that would be creepy, but I do like to maintain a fair bit of eye contact...and glasses can sometimes be a bit of a barrier. 2. During intimate moments, they get in the way. We know you want to be able to see who you're doing, but as a general rule we'd rather not get jabbed by bits of metal in the process.
lifeasiknowit
For me, glasses don't factor into the attraction equation unless they are very distracting (too big, thick, don't fit right). Anyways, I think women are not as picky about appearance as men when it comes to dating and being attracted to the person. I wear my glasses all the time, my vision sucks, but I have the featherweight really thin lense, and non-reflective too. I think reflections on the lenses can be a distraction, especially since eye contact is numero uno when it comes to communication, and attraction. There have been studies that have shown that a person is more likely to be attracted to you after prolonged periods of eye contact.
megabit15
In addition to what others have responded about them being sexy and intellectual in a face flattering frame, I would like to add that one should keep the glasses clean. Nothing sexy or intellectual about spotty and streaky lenses or paint on outdated frames, etc.
