JS17
I happened to be running late to work today and caught part of a series that the Today Show on NBC is doing on Emotional Abuse in relationships. I wasn't able to watch much and I won't be able to see the rest but I thought I would pass the word along to anyone who might be interested in seeing it.
ReluctantRomeo
Interesting. What were they saying?
Author JS17
I don't know. I would really like to hear what it was about but I was running late for work and only caught a snippit of a few people talking about things that their abuser said to them and their reactions to it at the time. I'll see if I can catch something on the website.

Author JS17
I'm so glad I come here to share my thoughts and help others I know you guys are just kidding (or at least I hope) but I would like to learn more about how people have dealt with the aftermath of an emotionally abusive relationship. I was hoping the series would talk about it but I can't seem to find anything on the website. I'm not very technologically savvy...let's face it if I was I'd find out how to unblock all of the blocked sites during the day so I wouldn't be stuck with LS:D ...so if anyone can find it please post for us techie dolts. Author JS17
Thanks Craig. That's a good article but it's not the series that was on this morning. This morning's series was interviewing people about their experiences in Emotionally Abusive relationships. I'll see what I can find later on.
Art_Critic
I know you guys are just kidding (or at least I hope) Life on LS wouldn't be any fun anymore if you can't screw around sometimes with your homies
alphamale
I was hoping the series would talk about it but I can't seem to find anything on the website. Just a pointer, JS17.... I would suggest not getting your info from The Today Show on NBC. Most of this stuff on network TV is just to get ratings and viewers. I would suggest you hit your library and find a good book on this subject or find some research.

You mean American news is a hoax I'm shocked! I really just wanted to see the interviews with the people that this happened to. Since I don't know anyone else who was in an abusive relationship I don't feel like there are people that I can relate to.
slubberdegullion
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7115340/ The article seems to describe many workplaces, too. As a matter of fact, it's extremely vague, to the point of being almost useless. IMHO, this article does a real disservice to men and women who truly are abused, because the brush the writer uses covers almost every circumstance that ever happens, especially when there's a disagreement between a couple. According to this, I was emotionally abused in my second marriage and a couple of jobs. Funny, but I don't feel like an abuse victim...
Author JS17
The article seems to describe many workplaces, too. I think I'm in a toxic relationship with my boss. Oh no, wait, this article says one must have charm to be abusive so I guess that counts the boss out!
TUDOR
I always have the today show on in the bathroom in the mornings while getting ready. I caught most of the Emotional Abuse segment. It was trying to educate women and men in what constitutes emotional abuse. They had a lady tell her sob story about how bad her husband was to her emotionally. Discussed some signs to look for that someone is or has been emotionall abused. I wasn't paying that much attention to it because I was busy yelling at my wife to get my clothes and breakfast ready! J/K!
alphamale
They had a lady tell her sob story about how bad her husband was to her emotionally. Did they interview the hubby also to find out if his wife was a total beyotch or not?? There are two sides to every story TUDOR...

And it only would have been abusive if you told her how stupid and fat and annoying and worthless she was while yelling at her to take care of you.
TUDOR
Did they interview the hubby also to find out if his wife was a total beyotch or not?? There are two sides to every story TUDOR... Of course they didn't, the lady they interviewed even did it in the dark because she was afraid of retaliation, had her face blacked out.....or she don't want her hubby saying the lieing biotch!! Because of her now, who knows how many thousands of husbands will be screaming at their wives tonight! Across the nation there'll be scenes like this: H: "I know that was you today on that there Today Show! You were supposed to be at work, you lying bytch! What do you mean airing out your dirty laundry on national TV? W: What are you talking about? I was at work! H: You lying bytch! I heard how you told everyone I abuse you! Why didn't you tell them how you much deserve it, you worthless wench! Now, be quiet and bring me a beer!

Hot Coco
It's nothing to laugh at Alpha. Because of that piece thousands of women will suffer verbal abuse by their men tonight. Where's your compassion?

Hot Coco
Art, your post was hilarious by the way! JS, I've been verbally abused. What do you want to know? You said something about the aftermath. I'd tell you but I'm too afraid of the repercussions. Can I black my name and avatar out first? Ok, seriously. I have been in this type of relationship in the past. You either come out of it stronger or beaten down with no self-esteem. I was the former. I don't take shyt from anyone, ever. Are you listening Alpha's of this world. I mean now, if you LOOK at me the wrong way, watch out! This is true. My H met me after my "transformation." He didn't know the doormat version of me...only the goddess I've become. He STILL, 11 years later does NOT believe that I was that way. But it's really true. I took a lot of **** from my ex-H. It's like anything else. The "aftermath" is what you make up your mind it will be. Will you let it beat you down or make you stronger? What's that saying? It's kind of like that...what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. It's all up to you. But if you have questions about being in emotionally abusive relationship, been there done that...ask away.
