Topsyturvy
I contacted an ex on social media & we have not spoken for 18 yrs. He accepted my request & we got talking. He said he's single, not married, & has changed & likes his own company. I said I would leave him be, but he kept responding back going over old memories. Then suddenly he said that he's changed & has blocked me. I'm confused? Why continue a conversation when I offered to leave him be, then when I respond he tells me he's changed & he's not the answer then blocks me b4 I can even respond? What inspired you to reach out after all this time? Perhaps he was ok with catching up but doesn't want to restart anything, including being friends.
BrinnM
He wants no contact, the reasons for which could be due to the specifics of your guys’ past relationship, or simply his personality & beliefs. There are many ppl in this world who don’t want to be friends with exes, me included, and that doesn’t particularly mean anything, it’s just that I don’t see the point. He may not see the point, either. And when he told you he’s single, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s actually single. Maybe he’s not, and maybe his current partner saw the messages and asked him to delete them and/or block you. We don’t know that, but it’s certainly possible. He wouldn’t be the first one. Yes, he did engage initially, and he accepted your friend request, but that’s more or less meaningless. We’re all curious by nature, and if somebody proactively reaches out and wants to chat, I’ll certainly entertain them for a while, just to hear what they’ve been up to. There could be something interesting coming from it, so you don’t immediately shut them down. He may have thought the same, and after a few messages, he simply decided that it’s not going anywhere he wants it to go. The convo may have utterly bored him. Who knows. So there’s really no reason to be surprised that he initially engaged, but then changed his mind for whatever reason. Happens all.the.time.
stillafool
More than likely he blocked you be cause he has a woman. Just let it go.
ExpatInItaly
Maybe he's not as single as he claims. I wouldn't stress it. This was reaching too far into the past, and as you can see, it wasn't a door worth re-opening.
