Just a friend, again?

Recommended Posts

I like this girl from college, we had classes together and studied together during school. We graduated, and now I live about an hours drive away.

When we first met she teased me by saying "I love you" just to embarass me. I didn't do anything as I was just turned down by another girl I had been pining over for quite awhile.

Now when we would talk face to face she would face me, which I have heard is a good sign. But a lot of our conversations were about her and her boyfriend which I take as a very very bad sign.

We have each others email addresses and phone numbers, she never calls or writes, and I only call infrequently. But I talk to her most of the week on AIM while she is at work. Bad news is I have to initiate, or she gets angry that I don't.

Since she broke up with her boyfriend she has stopped talking to me about personal things. Is that good or bad? I don't try to get her to as I don't want to be the guy she goes to for advice and to bitch about crappy dates.

She has tried to tell me I should date around, but she stopped that after she broke up with her ex too. I'm sure thats a bad sign that she did it in the first place. (You're a great person, why don't you go out with someone else  )

I really don't want to be caught in this crap again, I hate being second best. But it might just be my station in life to be let down repeatedly.

Friends again? Or is there hope that I'm back on the charts?

Being stuck in the friend zone with someone you'd rather be intimately involved with is only slightly less painful than a novocain-free root canal.

So make your intentions and expectations clear. It may end up being an all-or-nothing ultimatum. While I don't think ultimatums are always the way to go, in this case it may be the best. No matter which way it goes, your answer will be clear and unequivocal.

Good luck!

well I chickened out and didn't state my intentions loud and clear and it bit me in the butt.

she just dances around the advances. she doesn't seem too interested, and may be interested in someone else now.
