Did I give an impression of desperateness?

Behind Info: I met her at my workplace around May of 2005. I asked her out and we went on a couple of dates (holding hands,looking at each other but never kissed). As the weeks went by, she asked me to go out with her to places, meet friends and family. I was working on my two jobs and it was constraining the relationship so I called to break it off mutually which we did and agreed to be friends. She called me over the few months sparingly. The latest was on my birthday (11/12) and asked me to go out and have fun with her and her friend whose birthday was a day before mines. I declined. After Thanksgiving, she was on my mind and I got inclined to call her. I did and left a message that she was on my mind the whole week so I called. She called back an hour later and we talked about how our lives are going so far. Everything was good overall and I told her I'll call from time to time and she agreed to check up on me. Question is did my sudden call to her seem like I was searching the whole time (in her mind) because I did not keep in touch with her the whole time until my birthday so from a girls point of view, it seems to be that case or should I just see what happens? My main objective was to find out how she is doing and really keeping in touch (as we both agreed during the mutual parting)
