Can a pregnant woman get a flu shot? The reason I ask is, my mother was telling me yesterday about 3 women that were all pregnant. One was about 7 months not sure how far along the other two were. 2 of them were sisters and the third was a friend of theirs. They all went a few weeks ago and had flu shots. This past week the one that was 7 months, didn't feel her baby move, so she went to the doc the baby was dead. her sisters baby was also dead, then a week later the friend of theirs baby was also dead.

I would think they could get a flu shot since the one that was 7 months belly was probably sticking out, they might would have said since you're preggo you can't get a flu shot. Anyway, they are looking into it further to see what the cause was for sure. All 3 women recieved their flu shots from the same place, the local health department. Is it possible the health department had a bad batch of the flu vaccine? however, haven't heard of this happening to anyone else lately but just these 3 women.

Personally why would a woman want to risk losing their baby by a flu shot and being that far along.. I would have waited it out and then taken a flu shot after the baby was born!!! That is weird that all had flu shots, pregnant and went to same place and all their babies died think i would be looking into it to see if the flu shot was the cause !! That would be awful for that to happen and be so close to delivering couldn't imagine really feel for these women!! :( I do think this should be investigated very possible that they did get a bad batch of the flu shot!!! keep us posted to what they find out.. Why would these women do this i thought flu shots were for the elderly and smaller kids as well as people with low immune system?

Technically, there is no reason whatsoever that a 'flu shot should kill a fetus. It's just some dead virus in a solution. So absolutely the serum itself should be examined for the horrible possibility that it contained some sort of contaminant.

I talked with my sister in law earlier, shes a nurse, and she said that prego women can get flu shots but supossedly in their 2nd or 3rd trimester is best. Which I think at least one of the women were not sure how far the other 2 were. Anyway she said it was possible the vaccine its self could have been contaminated, however it wasn't likely because if it were it would have killed the mothers of the babies as well, plus other people who may have received the shot. She did say people allergic to eggs are not to get a flu shot. However I think they usually ask you your medical history or if you're allergic to anything before giving you at shot of any kind. Sis in law just it was hard to say what happened, but it was odd, and needed to be looked into further.

I wonder if somehow pregnancy caused them to become allergic? It sure is a mystery. Will you post if you find out what happened? I'm always interested in medical mysteries like this.

Interesting thing about vac's is that they do contain mercury. Vac for animals have been under the "microscope" for quite a bit of time now. New studies are showing that it is dangerous/unhealthy to the animals to vaccinate on a annual basis.

There have been recalls on many vac batches in the past......could be just a bad batch made its way through the system.

OutCast, yes when I find out more I will let you know. These are people that live in my area I don't know them but heard about them through my mother because her boss who is a preacher told her about it, and he buried the first baby recently and is burying the other baby today. Not sure about the third baby. He said it was just awful.
