An international poll: questions to strip clubs, strippers, etc.

A couple of days ago I had a discussion with a friend of mine, an American, about strip clubs, strippers, bachelor parties where you hire strippers, etc. I said it seemed to be something typical American and he sayd he thought it wasn't.

 

Could Americans, but also people from other countries tell me what is usual and what is not? I tend to believe that going to strip clubs, inviting strippers for bachelor parties, etc. are more typical American and not really what the rest of the world does, not so openly at least. I also would have said that typical strip club visitors tend to watch Jerry Springer, my friend though has a degree from Berkeley, so I guess, it's not true that it's only low class who goes there. He's 28 years old and has visited strip clubs three times as far as now.

 

I personally have never been to a strip club, but I saw a strip show in a disco once, male strippers. It was interesting to watch, but not necessarily something that I would wish for my bachelorette party (I honestly didn't really get anything out of it... ) Not sure if this show would be comparable to a strip club.

 

I thought about polling my male friends, but well, most of them never talk about sex or anything. If I ask them like this, they will think I've become a nympho...

 

So, hopefully I can find here some answers to these question:

yes, i used to go when I was younger (mainly in my 20s). Probably went 20 or 30 times over 10 years or so.

a few but not very many. it loses its novelty once you reach a certain age.

yes, and at some of the bach parties the strippers were selling blow jobs and cocaine...

here it is normal...probably because of the puritanical mindset of the avg american.

the educated men with money go to the high-class places and all others go to the regular places

2 Bars with strippers in, not clubs, quite few times when I was young, it was my local bar.

 

3 Now, no.

 

4 No, would be uncomfortable with that.

 

5 Strippers in bars, not unusual, but of limited interest.

Strippers at stag nights. I have no idea why but I find this distasteful, (I am a hetero guy BTW!). The guy is meant to be getting married soon. I don't find this shows any respect to his future wife or himself.

Yes. Haven't been for nearly a year.

Occasionally, but not often. The beer is the same at a strip club or regular bar, and it's less expensive at a pub.

Yes.

Not unusual, but it's pretty expensive.

(I'm female, but thought I'd share my limited knowledge.)

1. USA

2. No, but saw male strippers at bachelorette party.

3. All of my male friends have been at least once. Some several times. The ones that seem to go less often are either in committed relationships, are able to get "some" when they wanted.

4. Yes. not abnormal.

5. Not related to education. Possibly more tied to self-confidence, and social ability to get chicks.

Me: "Normal is when a lot of your friends do it."

Him: "No, not many do this."

I forgot to ask him this question, but he has a Master and is doing his PhD now.

I wouldn't have asked him if he was a member of a minority group. He's an average person with average friends. I can't make a statistically foolproof survey here for the whole population, therefore I'm going to continue collecting more data and for the moment just make a mental note of this trend.

I don't think so. Going to strip clubs is just one's own personal decision. I know lawyers that go to strip clubs all the time. I also know people who only have a highschool diploma and work on assembly lines that go to strip clubs.

I agree RIDDLER....many businessmen conduct "business meetings" at the nicer strip joints. Nothing like buttering up a customer with some nice T&A or a lap dance. That combines with a few stiff drinks paid for by the expense acct. are a sure fire way to close the deal. If you know what I mean...

I read you loud and clear. IMHO, there is no such thing as a nicer strip joint. They are all on the same level.

I disagree RIDDLER. There are the normal places and then the exclusive places where cover charge is $20 per person and drinks average $10 each and they have valet pkng which is another $10. Table dances are like $20 each, etc..... only the high-rollers go to theses places. And the women are gorgeous and young!
