I have been "dating" this guy online for over two and a half years, neither of us were the type to think it'd work, but it has been amazing, hardly any issues and we are almost perfect together, we talk every day despite very busy lives- we just really enjoy each other. We live a long ways apart; think overseas distance. Is it worth it? He means a lot to me and I'd love to try, I just want to know what everyone here thinks about it, I am looking for advice and opinions, no judgments. Thanks.

Hey 6205, have you guys met before? I think if you're feeling like this relationship is so perfect yet you've never met him, then it's worrying 'cause you only know someone and build your relationship properly if you've been with them in person, at least few times.

I personally feel negative about relationships when the distance is too much. Is it practical for you guys to have a future? Or maybe you want a short term relationship? In which case I think you can enjoy this time and go with the flow.

Anyway if you find this person wonderful and want to pursue him for your future then I think you guys should work towards reducing the geographical distance.

Good luck!

I, too, wondered if you had met each other. It's important to get to know him in the "real world." So much can be different when writing to someone. Personally, I'd want to see how he treats and interacts with other people. He could be nice online and an arrogant a$$ in real life.

How much do you know about him? Are you able to verify the things he tells you?

What might the future hold? There are other threads on this site about how stressed folks are when having to leave family, friends and familiar surroundings to move hundreds (or thousands) of miles to be with the other person.

Just remember, there isn't such a thing as perfect. There is an old saying, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably IS."
