Mistaken Identity
Sorry to bother everyone again. I posted "Too Sad to See Daughter?" To summarize, my husband left two days ago without warning. I haven't heard from him. His work called to say he called them in the evening, but he never showed up. We moved to Texas three months ago. We don't know anyone. I have no idea where he could be. Maybe in a motel somewhere? He has left like this before, but always in our home state where he knew people to stay with. Anyway, Ive made arrangements to go back home the day after Christmas. What should I tell my daughter? I don't want her to grow up feeling abandoned. Thanks so much.
Outcast
Call the police and report him missing. People drive off roads, have car fires - anything could have happened. First try to find him. Tell your daughter he's gone on a trip and hope it's true.

Author Mistaken Identity
Just to let you know, we tracked my husband down via his credit card usage. He has been staying at a motel about five miles from here. I drove by to check up on him, but his car wasn't there. Oh well, at least we know he's alive...
933KJL
No need to sugar coat it to a five year old. But she does not need the truth either. By saying that he is on a business trip indicates that he is coming back--which he may not. Why not just say that dad has some problems that he needs to work out on his own--sort of a time out-- and while he is doing that, we are going to stay with family back in California--remember how much fun you used to have there...
