Husband Disappeared. Drinking Again?

Mistaken Identity

I've posted on the Separation/Divorce forum, but thought I'd try a different question here. To make a long story short: My husband recently quit drinking in an attempt to save our relationship. When he drank, he would just disappear every few months without warning. We would find him camping in the desert or staying at his dad's in a nearby desert town. He would always blame me: I wasn't happpy, or I was too friendly to my daughter's father. Well, we've relocated to another state. He found a job he said he loved. But after the second week on the job, he didn't report to work. This was Tuesday. He just disappeared. I'm thinking he couldn't go without drinking any more and he's holed up drunk in some motel. Is this typical alcoholic behavior? Thanks for any advice.

I'm sorry but it is! You say he would go missing every month to the desert, is this that he only drank excessively every month, or was it daily?

If he doesn't want to stop, he won't, if he thinks he can do it in secret, he will! Wherever!

Most people with alcohol problems either say they enjoy it too much, or it's someone elses fault & his insecurity towards you being friendly with your daughters father, maybe him feeling jealous & not communicating enough!

Get together, tell him what the score is between you & your daughters father, there's nothing in it & that he hasn't any reason to get drunk because of this!

Or maybe he just likes drink. Only he can help that!

Take care

His problem has less to do with drinking and more to do with his fear of failure. This may sound strange yet to one who has to carry all the weight($) it is not. If I was you I would start supporting instead of yacking, bitching and nagging. You may be very surprised what results you will get if ya start supporting your Man instead of destroying your Man. All and get a job for yourself to help pay the bill's.
