~hey sorry im kinda new to this whole thing but i need advice,

I am currently planning to move out of my parents house in 7 months. This isnt a first, it at 15 i moved in with my uncle due to problems with the "neighborhood thugs" and about 7 months ago I came back to finish high school. This move would be completely different, at my uncle's i was pretty much sheltered everything i needed was provided. If i choose to move in July i would be alone 600 miles away from my family. I have a roomate already, so rent and food wouldnt be that hard, i also might join the national guard, but im not sure about that. Whats it like to move out at 18? Is it worth it or should i stay with the rents? i think im ready but sometimes i have my doubts..

I moved out when I was 18. It was difficult. All of a sudden you are responsible for EVERYTHING, which is a lot for an 18 year old to handle. Whatever you do...make sure you have a plan for your education, and that you stick with it. Because I moved out so soon and had bills to pay, i had to get a full time and part time job and had to delay my education, and I suffered the consequences for years later.

My parents left England when I was 17. I was left with my relatives. So I didn't leave home, home left me. It was a bloody difficult time for me.

It has its good points and its bad points

Good points include learning to look after yourself and having more freedom. Of course with freedom comes responsibility, and a lot of it!

Bad points include feeling lost, isolated, lonely and all the responsibility.

Make sure you are prepared, and mentally strong enough. Watch the money side very carefully, and don't forget your education as has been said above.

Be careful who you mix with, and avoid all the "cool" people who will tell you all sorts of bs to get you to join their clique. Avoid drugs at all costs.

Remember your parents are there to help you.

Waiting a few years is no big deal. You have your whole life before you. Don't rush it. There is loads of time to experience paying bills, and doing your own washing, cooking etc.

I wish I could have spent more time at home with my parents. I feel as though I missed out on a major part of my youth. It is gone now, unrecoverable, lost. I wish it had been different.

Of course with freedom comes responsibility, and a lot of it!

And much of that responsibility involves money. Have you estimated your living costs, done a budget, and figured out how to have enough money to go to school? And to live while you're in school?

Do you do your own household chores? Do you know how much work caring for a place takes? As others said, once you're on your own, you're that way forever and you have all those things to deal with forever. It's not all a big picnic, you know.

I moved out when I was 18. I had a good job though too.

It did delay my education for about 10 years and I suffered as of that.

If you are able to stay at home and it is not too bad meaning you aren't being abused or something like that, you should probably stay at home and get a good education and get some solid job skills before moving out.
