ludlowluddy
How can I break it to my boss and the boss' wife, that they aren't invited to my wedding? I work in a really small office, everyone here is a lot older than i am so i don't really fit in and the elders kind of have this "we're all family, we're all a team" kinda mind set, but i don't agree. I don't really like the people I work with. They tend to judge me a bit since i'm younger, they feel they can give me tons of advice, Tell me how to live my life, etc......anyway...The wedding is in a month and a half...and I need to take ask for some vacation after for a honeymoon... I haven't really divulged much info to my co-workers, because i don't want any of them to come...This Wedding is for Family and close friends and My beautiful Bride and I. The Boss' wife keeps asking me when it's going to be, where it's going to be and keeps asking about how the planning is going. She hasn't come out and asked if they are invited, but i know she's going to ask... How should I tell her It's just for family and close friends, without her and the boss getting offended...I have a feeling that since i've been working here for the last 4 years, that i consider them family and they are of course, invited.... Author ludlowluddy
I should rephrase... I have a feeling that since i've been working here for the last 4 years, that they think i consider them family and so they are indeed invited to the wedding, but that's not the case....... bluechocolate
You don't have to tell them anything. If they ask tell them you're only having a small wedding with immediate family & close friends. End of story. If they choose to get offended that is their choice. Perhaps you aren't giving them enough credit?
stitchie21
You said that your wedding is going to be close friends and family - so why not tell them just that. They should understand, and if not, oh well, it is your wedding, and your choice for who you invite. A friend of mine did that with her wedding and it worked out just fine. Just be honest and tell them politely that it is going to be a small affair for those closest to you and your wife to be. Good luck, and best wishes!

Author ludlowluddy
You're right, you're right...I may not be giving them enough credit...I just feel a bit intimidated at times by the Boss' wife because she's very bold and can be very sassy and a little bossy... And I take it back, i remember she did say about a month ago, "we'll be expecting an invitaion john", in a joking but kinda serious tone. I'm sure they could understand and I'm 99% certain i can tell them No, it's just for Family and Close friends... I just know how they are...I can almost see them saying, "Nonsense, John... We'll pay for our own plates, We just wanna be there"...Because they can make you feel uncomfortable and guilty at times... Maybe i'm just worrying too much, Even if they do get a bit bent out of shape, what do I care, it's my wedding, Right? It'll blow over and they'll forget about it after a month or two... And if she were to insist on an invite when was wasn't proferred one then she'd be not only sassy & a little bossy (she is your boss? ) but also extremely crass. Don't stress about it - it hasn't even happened yet. Congratulations.
Cecelius
Just blame it on your future father in law, and that since he's paying for it it is a tiny wedding and if you invite your boss, then the bride's mom gets mad because Aunt Tillie didn't get invited to save room...
