İ did not have a girlfriend in highschool and it makes me sad

İ am 17 years old male, i did not get  girlfriend in highschool and i am about to graduate like a month later. At the first days of my highschool, i focused on studying and improving myself, i had friend group but i did not have a crush so i did not care about dating stuff, but now i do really much, that is why i have lack of dating experince and that makes me feel sad sometimes bc i think that would be a turnoff for a woman, is there something wrong with me or i am overreacting? How could i get a girlfriend in college or after college if i did not get one in highschool? (İm sorry if i posted in wrong place)

Yes this should probably be in the “In Search Of” section…

 

But not having a girlfriend in high school is really not a big deal at all. Many young women also didn’t have boyfriends. In college just join any clubs that strike your interest and talk to everybody you meet. Some people will stand out more than others. If you see a young woman you’re interested in, ask her on a date. If she says no be very respectful and don’t take it personally. And if she says yes, have fun!

Heaps of people don't have boyfriends and girlfriends in high school.  

How do you get a girlfriend in college?  By meeting people, being friendly with girls and learning how to be comfortable talking to them as friends and equals.  When you can do that, dating is the next step.  Just be careful to not keep trying to date different girls who are in your classes as word will get around.

I didn't have a BF in HS.  I'm married now. 

Don't worry about it. It will be easier in college because you can reinvent yourself.  You can try out different versions of yourself to discover who you are. 

Success in life is not measured on a calendar.  Relax. 

If you haven't asked anybody to prom yet, start there, with one date.

Your life begins after high school. Trust me, someday you will look back and understand what I’m saying.

Lots of people didn’t date in high school, myself included. I’m getting married this spring. Not dating in high school does not in any way affect your ability to find a relationship in the future. Honestly, you did a good thing by studying, working to improve yourself, and enjoying your time with your friends. A recent study just showed that your high school/college years, the vast majority of your time is spent with friends. In childhood, it is family. And in adulthood, you spend more time dating/with a romantic partner. 

Chin up - your life is about to start now… it will be ok.
