... If it's not a joke, then please do stop sawing off your hand Grace. Unless you're okay with using one hand to type.

one-handed typing :lmao:

I think the questions to be asked are

a. how is he typing and cutting off his hand at the same time?

b. which hand is it AND

c. can a male ever really live without his second best friend; his right hand does all the talking ;)

And I think the questions to be asked are

A)Why would he talk about cutting himself and then make a joke about cutting his hand off?

B)Why hasnt he replied to this post yet since starting it?

'Cause he either cut his hand off by now... or he's seriously hurtin'.

Grace... your hand didn't make you sin. And the bible didn't mean it literally. Your human, we all error. God loves you the way you are. And so do we. Both hands included.

(hug)

Trust me grace... it isn't always so hard all the time. Things do get better. just give it time. Keep breathing, and try to get your mind off things for a while.

I tell you... my heart hurts today. Really bad. I punched the wall. I threw the brush and put a hole in the wall. I screamed and screamed til I had no more, and then I wept. And there's no more tears left. And i wish with everything I had that I understood... that I was a better person...

*sigh* every day is a struggle, some easier then others, some much worse. I've slept on cold concrete, without so much as a blanket. I've done things I swore I never would. I've left homes I've known for decades with out a dime, and no more then the clothes on my back. I've walked away from all those I've loved, and I've been so close to death that I've felt its cold touch.

Life doesn't get any easier... But I refuse to give up, and that is what defines me. Cutting yourself is giving up. Why? because you do so for the wrong reasons. You spend energy and time to garner pity. Confidence and Belief in yourself is power. Believe in yourself, and you no longer need the attention of anyone else. Then you have power. And you have control. Not over others, but over yourself. And that's where true power lies. In ourselves.

Grace, if you're a cutter and actually have attempted cutting your hand off, please go talk to a professional or call 911. I hope you're okay.

But could you really do it?

Seriously If the need arose, like that mountain climber stuck under a boulder several months(or more) back in the news.

If it were keeping the rest of you from living, do you think you could do it?

The bible

states that God made adam from the dust.

How difficult do you really think it could be for Him to fashion a new hand, or whatever part of your body, or soul, that isn't currently whole out of quite literally nothing.

chuckle and mock all you want, but think about how many true Christians were maimed, tortured, beheaded, burnt at the stake, and still are, at the hands of those who claim to be "christian" but whose fruit reveals they are of a different vine. Not to mention all of those who just plain out don't believe.

We all look at out flesh as a precious comodity, when it is in fact transitional, and will in fact die anyway.

Sometimes it takes extreme examples to get people to really consider the words being spoken, rather than giving them a passing glance and dismissal, as the original poster apparently did.

Think about it, If you could really Give up part of your own body and sever it from yourself, then how truely difficult is it to, give up so called minor vices and addictions, like smoking, drinking, or other meaningless activities, and better yet sin ?

chris i think the things you discuss are unhelpful to the original poster.

it also depends what you mean by sin, i mean, i know the bible is not meant to be taken literally, but all the talk of sin and punishment and guilt, so much guilt, do not help people that want to punish themselves.

I think Chris comes closest in relating what OP wrote: Knowing Grace's background as a fundamentalist believer, I believe that he's talking about trying to quit a habit or vice that is detrimental to his spiritual well-being. And that as hard as it is, he's determined to do so.

all your answers – interesting and varied and funny as they are – are from a whole other plane than what Grace is referring to.

I don't think he's serious if he just states a thing and disappears. At least I hope he's not serious about removing a limb. I really don't think you could cut off your whole hand before you pass out ( especially with a knife ). God doesn't want you to remove your hand. The bible uses metaphors to explain ideas.
