tibz
Hey guys. So straight to it. In my 30s now I got a gold job I'm a police officer. Just got out of a relationship for about a year but was with this same girl a few years ago. Short story she broke my heart and left me. Again. Have I learnt from that. I most have. But the reason I'm here is I feel so empty and I feel like I'm doing nothing with my life. My free time all I do is drink. Like that's all I do I just spree on alcohol. I have no hobbies no activities just work, drink alcohol and sleep and in that cycle continuously. It's a really sucky feeling and I just can't feel like this it's awful. I would like some advice as to what I can do and how I can move forward.
Gaeta
If l were you l would head to a AA meeting and go from there one day at a time. Also as a policeman you have good insurance to access therapy. You need to go talk to someone. It sounds like a depression that you self medicate with alcohol. You're hitting the bottom, you need help to get back on your feet. Leihla_B
My heart goes out to you. The problem with reaching for alcohol to dull pain is that it works--until it doesn't. Then you're in a habit that only demotivates you against reaching for any better habits. Can you find someone in your community who has stopped drinking who may be willing to talk with you about how they went about it? There are also substance abuse hotlines on the Internet where you can speak with a peer who understands and can talk you through some options.
