Angel29
I have walked a dog through a charity for 5 and a half years for free. The dog is on loan to a woman who is supposed to be deaf but this is not the case and a charity rep said she should not have the dog. She has overfed the dog over the years which he was removed from her twice so they could get him to lose weight at the charity centre. 2 weeks ago I noticed he had red blood shot eyes with pus seeping. It looked really bad and I told the charity and the woman. The charity were subtle and came a few days later and pretended to do a routine visit. 2 weeks later there was no improvement so I emailed the charity rep and then phoned a manager at the centre. The woman who has the dog is furious and sent me a nasty message asking why did I tell the charity as they contacted her and says I should not have told them. She made up a lie saying the dog has been to the vets 5 times in 5 weeks but the charity have the vets records and said the dog has not been at all. I was shocked I replied back saying I have walked the dog for 5 and a half years for FREE and that the charity has always said to report issues as the legally belongs to them and the are liable. This woman has abused the charity and does not need the dog. Many times I have been there and she has lots of family and a grandson who could walk him and they sit in the living room eating take outs while I have walked this dog in the cold or dark. I have had enough now of being used and disrespected. I love the dog so much but the situation is upsetting me. It breaks my heart but he needs rehoming to a decent honest family who would look after him. I don’t really want to see this rude woman ever again.
Leihla_B
I'd present the charity with my evidence in person and ask them to remove the dog to tend to it while they investigate whether to remove it permanently. I'd explain that If they don't respond to this situation immediately, I'll be forced to report them to the local animal cruelty authorities.
MsJayne
It sounds like the charity is going to take this in hand, so you shouldn't be feeling bad or like you haven't done enough, hopefully the dog will be collected and restored to health, (sounds like it has conjunctivitis). I'd refuse to walk the dog any longer, Cruel Deaf Woman is way out of line, and you shouldn't take her crap. I agree with Leihla, follow up whether the dog has been cared for, and if not take it further. Just out of interest, does Deaf Woman use a hearing aid? What makes you think she's faking it?
