Hi everyone  I really need some advice on how to approach my situation. Please help! I met this guy on a language exchange app last year in November and we had been in communication daily ever since this until this past Sunday. A week or so after starting chatting him on the language exchange app he asked me for my number so we could chat on what’s app and I gave him my name number. I ended up going to Dubai for three weeks on holiday and just got back and he went to Germany as he is half German during Christmas holidays but we stayed in touch.  When we got back he said he wanted to do a video call with me and I was reluctant to do it honestly because I get anxiety when I do video calls but I promised him that the girl in the pictures is real ( I’m real btw). He wasn’t very happy with me for refusing him a video call but he said he still wanted us to meet. So we were supposed to meet on Saturday but he had a nasty cold and he told me he couldn’t meet up with me because he was still ill so I said that it was fine since his health should be a priority. Something had been a bit off since then he would always message me first. We last spoke on Sunday as I was asking how he was with the cold and stuff and he responded to me and that was it. So today I went on that language app and I was just curious so I wanted to go and check his profile there and I had a message saying that i couldn’t access his profile because he blocked me . This is very strange and odd as I don’t understand why he would block me but he hasn’t blocked me on what’s app as I can still see his last seen. I like this guy and we have been speaking since November and he really wanted to see me so I don’t understand why he would block me there. Can you guys try to help me understand this ?? I feel like crying because I feel like there is something going on that I don’t know …. Why would he do this and why didn’t he block me on what’s app ?

One thing is for sure: you are overly-invested in this person.

Maybe he is not even single and his partner saw the messages he'd been exchanging with you on the language app. It's hard to say when you don't really know him.

I would take this opportunity to step back and sit with myself.  It is clear you are quite emotionally wrapped up  here. Why is that? What expectations did you have of this situation? How far apart are you two? How's your love life in general?

Unfortunately i have feelings for this guy so yeah I'm definitely invested. I had been speaking to him daily since last year November. He told me he liked me and he would want to meet on numerous times but i couldn't meet up with him last year because i got sick for a while and then after i had to go to Dubai for three weeks. He said he wanted to take me on a date and see how things goes and stuff..  I have sent him videos of myself and pictures so he knows how i look like but he kept pushing for a video call but i didn't want to do it. To be honest  in an ideal situation i would have wanted to date him as me and he him got along very well and we cold speak for hours on the phone and chat on whats app regularly. He even said he felt like he he has known me for ages and i felt the same. We both live in London, England just 30 minutes from one another by train. I have been single for a while as i'm very picky and also my last relationship ended badly so i took some time out to heal, this guy reached out to me and we just started developing feelings for another. He messaged me today a few hours ago though and i told him i would like to speak to him on the phone when i finish work so he said that's fine and lets do it

All you can do is plan to meet (soon) and see how it goes.

Keep your expectations in check, in any case. You don't know each other offline, so it's important that you keep perspective and treat a first meet-up accordingly. You might mesh well in person, or you might find you are not attracted to each other. Anything is possible.

This is good, but it's not really sufficient to know if you're compatible enough to actually date.  I know you said you are picky, but you are getting a bit ahead of yourself here. If you're picky, don't you want to first assess how well you get along in real life? If there's mutual chemsitry?

Oh please don't cry over someone who you've never even met in person.  It doesn't matter how many phone calls you've had with him.... you really don't know this guy and you have no idea whether you would even have chemistry in person, so don't let yourself get so carried away with this fantasy in your head of this guy.

You can't have feelings for a guy you have never even spent any time with in person.  You do not know this guy.  You should not be letting yourself get this invested in someone you have never met in person, that is the whole point.

Set up a concrete plan to meet up with him in person, see how that goes, and go from there.  But stop letting yourself get so carried away with this before you have even properly met him.
