jasong
Ever since my fiance has went on her birth control in September of 2005, I have noticed these following changes about her. 1. She is very fatigued at the end of her work day. 2. Definite mood change!!! 3. She can get 8 hours of "Good" sleep and still be tired. 4. Lack of sexual drive. Are these some side effects of the pill? If so, we are going to the doctor and switching!!!!!!!! Let me know your thoughts.
brashgal
Even if they weren't side effects of the pill, she should go to the doctor, she has physical issues that are affecting her life and yours.
lilmoma1973
There are side effects with the pill but as Brashgal had said you should get her to her doctor since it is affecting you two lives.. Could be her hormones making her tired ..
EMJ
The Pill is not ususally the cause if those kind of symptoms. Lack of sexual drive, no way. The side effects are usually very specific like headaches, spotting between periods, and even nausea if the dosage is too high. I was on the pill for years, but eventually stopped because I went off for awahile and then when I went back on had some of the symptoms mentioned above. But mood swings and fatigue?? Not usually. Looks more like depression, seriously. She should definitely go to back to her doctor something else may be going on here. Hope this helps.
slubberdegullion
Could be any number of things, from depression to thyroid dysfunction to liver disease. She needs to be checked out post-haste.

Yes as Slubber said could be thyroid problem too .. if that is the problem than weight gain and being tired will play a role as well as no sex drive!! Get your gf to dr to get a medical opinion.. Jesus, the guy said she started experiencing these symptoms after she started taking BC pills and everyone is freaking him out that she might have this disease or that. I have been suffering from the same symptoms since getting on the BC pills. Maybe you have a good enough doctor to prescribe a different BC pill but don't get freaked out with everyone's opinion that it could be from thyroid and other serious diseases. WoWaddict
There is a laundry list of side effects that could occur. She just may be experiencing one of the rarer ones. Fatigue is a normal reaction, as is mood swings because essentially youre taking hormones to prevent pregnancy. A lowered sex drive is listed as a side effect.
My_Other_I
I would recommend trying a different pill with lower level of hormones. She needs to talk to her OBGYN about that, no doubt. Maybe it's normal. I've never had any symptoms, but I have an iron stomach (and I guess the iron body comes with it:D )
Author jasong
Thanks everyone for your input. Now there seems to be another problem. She doesn't want to go to the doctor to get a BC change!! Is she just being difficult? She admits to feeling depressed....Could this be the reason. I did some research and have found out that the problems that she is experiencing are common side effects. Will these changes in her ever go away?
roxyg
I'm sure it will take some time getting used to. Personally, I used to get sick everytime I took my b/c, after talking to my dr. she told me to go ahead and eat some toast with it. The side effect eventually went away, and only once did I again experience this. Don't push her into going back in to the doctor unless serious issues arise. As these are side effects they should go away within due time of your body changing and getting used to the rearranging of everything. Don't freak out, it is her body, and her decision to know what is right, and what is going on with it!
Author jasong
Once again, thank you everybody. Just to keep you people posted, she seems to be doing alot better. I told her that the way she was acting was not only hurting me, but others as well. After that, everything seems to be back to normal. I also told her that if this happens again, whether she liked it or not, we were going to the OBGYN to get a change. Thanks again everybody!!!!!!!!

I don't know how you feel about your body, but I know I am the judge of me, I know what is best for me. You can't force someone to go to the doctor because you can't handle dealing with a little side effects. It should always be her choice not yours!
