Do you believe you see loved one's when you die?

Recommended Posts

This question was asked in my death education course.

Nearly everyone in my class raised his or her hand in that they do believe. I didn't raise my hand.

How would we see our loved one? We are not in our human body. Would our spirits hang out?

What age would we be? We meet people at different points in our life. What if someone is a month old? I just don't get it.

It's great if we could see our family, friends, and pets when we die, but it doesn't seem right.

I think that we find peace in death...EACH and everyone of us. I don't believe in hell either. An all loving God wouldn't do that. Everyone is innocent when he/she was a baby.

Does the bible say we are going to see loved one's when we die?

I don't want anyone to get upset by my questioning, as I'm just wondering about this.

I don't know if we see loved ones or not... but if we do, what if our loved ones, who never knew each other, bump into our other loved ones just beyond the pearly gates??? Can angels cat-fight?

I don't know either.. or really have an opinion but.. if we do then do we see our Ex's too ??? arghhhhhhh

Maybe I need to keep the memories of my ex-wife closer than I do now..So I make sure I don't see her..

First of, do you personally believe in Heaven and Hell?

Or an afterlife at all?

If not. Then there's your answer.

I've heard from Theologists with Masters Degrees on the subject.

Some believe, as I do, that those who have been saved, and have inherited the kingdom of Heaven, will all have glorified bodies. We'll never get tired, we'll never get hungry, and we'll have full understanding of all things.

That includes knowing who is who in their glorified bodies.

OH, and running into loved ones, or not so, (ONCED), loved ones there, we will all know what it was in our human form that caused us to dislike or hate in the first place.

Yeah, it really is when you think about it.

All sin and evil removed, in all ways shapes and forms, and everyone on the same playing field.

I'd know your heart, and you'd know mine. You'd instantly know what my life consisted of to cause my heart to be in the condition is was in before all understanding was granted to us.

Forgiveness and relation towards each other would instantly consume us all........

Anyway.....those are my thoughts on it.

So then what would distinguish one of us from another? Sounds like we'd all be insipid shells, remove all the sin and evil - what do you do once you've instantly forgiven one another?

Just a disclaimer here real quick. These are only my thoughts and opinions, and doesn't mean I know for certain. But it is what I personally believe.

Our souls have their own distinguishes,(sw?), just like our faces, and like our hearts being unique to ourselves.

What do we do once we've forgiven each other????.....we have peace....that's what.....

The universe will be your playground..........

thanks Moose, believing in reincarnation I just plan on coming back until I get it right - although what the heck will happen once I got it right eludes me. Maybe that's when I go to your playground...

if you believe in an afterlife, and in heaven and hell and God, I think the answer is this: In heaven, all souls be hanging out together, basking in the glory of God as you perpetually adore him, and simply sharing your love of those around you. In hell, you'd be with a bunch of other miserable souls, bewailing the loss of God ....

as for OP's question, do we see our loved ones after we die? I believe that when you love someone, truly love them, your heart recognizes them no matter where you are, no matter if you've yet to meet them.

ROTFL! Gotta have some sorta twisted outlook on life if the absence of sin and evil reads as 'insipid' .:lmao:

Then I'd have to have something to do with my sister!!! NO!!!

But, what am I thinking. I don't believe anyway.

Its interesting though. If someone harbors a resentment or anger or simply not caring about another person and have nothing to do with them in life and are fine with that -- no overt angery or hostility -- would that person, by reason of a shared blood-line, become a 'loved-one' in heaven because one other person (say a parent) loved them both?

I mean, if I convert or something and get to heaven and mom is there and loves my sister and I both does that mean my sister is going to know all the reasons I cut off contact with her? That would give her a definate advantage over me because she is a master at twisting things her way and telling me how wrong I am for what I feel. I don't want anything to do with her.

~OR~ would that mean that I would change and all the reasons I have had nothing to do with her would be gone away and I would 'embrace' her as a sister? *blah - I can't imagine that ever happening*

~Or Or~ more than likely, even if I did believe I wouldn't get to Heaven anyway - no matter how closely I followed preachings and teachings BECAUSE I still want nothing to do with my sister.

It's an interesting concept.

Thanks

People who have clinically died and come back report seeing dead friends and relatives. I've known dying people who were comforted by the spirit of their dead dog resting with them on the bed.

Who knows for sure? These reports are so numerous that something's up, though. Some will want to attribute it to dying neurons and memories, but why those memories and not others? I recently read that approximately 50% of the elderly (not just those actively dying) see spirits.

I do not believe in the afterlife. I think it's like sleeping without dreaming.

Last night when you slept and didn't dream. Where did you go?

Your brain was off. When you're dead, your brain is destroyed. It's really off, off forever.

So appreciate your life and your relatives now. If you have something to say or want to do for them, do it now. You may not get the chance after you die.

The clinically dead do report seeing spirits of relatived, but some claimed to see these who who were still alive. I think it's just an illusion.

Still, it would be cool to play chess with albert einstein and my great great great great great great grandfather and lot of other dead people.

I dunno. When I was in the hosptial with no BP or pulse and they didn't think I would live and I did have an out-of-body experience (which was weird) I didn't see a bright light, but more a brightness -- like seeing things through a gauzy filtered light. It was peaceful and comfy and I didn't want to 'go back' to the stress and emotions of life, but when I saw my husband walk into the room I did 'come back' to awareness and feeling. Does that count? I didn't see any dead relatives, but then again, I'm not a Christian. If I had been I wonder if my mind would have 'played' memories or wishes of seeing them again and that would have been a different kind of peace.

Some of the stories I've heard of people who have been pronounced dead claim to have seen loved ones and somehow, someTHING communicated to them in this state that they should believe in God and when they recover to their mortal selves they have some kind of epiphany and become believers.

Seems like I would have been a prime candidate for that seeing as how I don't believe, but I don't disbelieve either and in that situation I could have been convinced to believe.

Maybe there is not one answer, but many - as many different answers as there are people.
