well J_J_HB...once I have definitive proof that humans have an afterlife then I will start to debate whether or not an afterlife awaits our pet friends...:)

Your avatar of the cheeseburger looks very delicious. Where can I order a burger like that? Fudruckers?

the lion will lay down with the lamb

Maybe so, but I'll bet the lamb doesn't get much sleep.

That would mean the spirit of animals is made up of different material? Why would their spirits just "disappear" and go nowhere? I don't think God would do that.:(

Not the God I know!

well, if human emotion exists after death, i'd be heartbroken not to see my adored 'scowpy tat' there.

without her, it just couldn't be heaven...

and if heaven exists, i'm sure all of god's wonderful creation will be welcomed home some day.

Not so true there AT..... I do not have a relationship with any "God", I do not fear death.... I avoid it however, so I can continue to enjoy what I have now, I would miss many things..... the only thing I fear about death is if it is going to be painful and long lasting. I have no fear of judgement, even if there did end up being a judge....... I have lived and continue to live my life in a way that is good and giving.......so why worry? Whats the big deal?

Because you 'could' also go to hell. You have to entertain that possibility. That's too much of a big risk to take lightly. I wouldn't want to be only 99% sure I'm missing hell, I'd like to be 100% sure. You cant do anything about it after the fact, only when you are alive you can get a grip on where you stand with God. Everything that you have done, and I mean everything is looked under a microscope. Every dirty joke, every lie, every wrong thought, gets judged - even if you cussed someone under your breath. You know what I'm saying?

Sorry still not phased...... this

God dude you speak about or for is one angry fella...... sheesh....

I think a tad too toxic for my comfort. I certainly do not need fear to "keep me on the path of kindness and trying to do the right thing"

The Bible teaches that animals just die and their spirit goes down. They can not go to heaven or hell - they just die.

Revelations 19:11

"Then I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse."

Psalm 145:-9-10,13,15-21

"Though all creatures are subject to man's cruelty, God loves ALL His creation and has made plans for all His children and the lesser creatures to enjoy His eternal Kingdom."

Genesis : 9,13-17

"The same fate awaits man and animals alike."

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run & play together.

There is plenty of food, water & sunshine, and our friends are warm & comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health & vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole & strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one sudeenly stops and looks into the ditance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from you heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I imagine my fur-baby is frolicing in Heaven where arthritis and cancer don't exist, and she is surrounded by thousands of her favorite toy, the plastic rings from milk jugs.
