Meg
My boyfriend and I became intimate for the first time a couple of days ago. I was so aroused but when he masturbated me and I orgasmed, right afterwards I had this horrible, pounding headache on the left side. It was like I had to experience this intense pain after the intense pleasure. This happened at least three times maybe because I wanted to orgasm so badly that I put extra pressure on myself so it gave me a headache. Has anyone else had this experience? What can I do to stop this? He wanted to do it again the other day, but I had to tell him to stop because I knew the pain afterwards would be too great.
Tony T
Some people get what are called coital cephaligia, exertional headache, or effort migraine. Not only can they be brought on by orgasm, they can also occur upon such other exertion as lifting weights, shovelling snow or other strenuous activities. But they are definitely linked to orgasm or other kinds of sexual excitement. Coital headaches can last up to 24 hours, although the average duration is several hours. Four times as many men get them as women. To confirm that what you had was indeed a coital headache, you'll need a CT Scan, MRI or MRA. Your doctor will order these for you if he wants to confirm a diagnosis. But I'm quite sure, even without these tests, that this is what you suffered. I am not a doctor though so don't rely on my amateur diagnosis. These sex induced headaches or migraine attacks can occur before, at the time of, or following orgasms. They can also occur during masturbation. They come in many varieties but yours seems to have come on very suddenly, which are the most throbbing and severe. See your doctor and describe the symptoms. There are a number of medications that are excellent for preventing and treating these types of headaches. Although you won't get them everytime, taking the medication for a while won't hurt you at all. One day, you'll most likely get your headaches well in advance of sex. I think that's what usually happens.
