Outcast
CHristianity is the only religion that I am aware of whose members feel they are not fee because they can't force their beliefs on everyone else. That doesn't stop them from trying, of course. Once again, that's NOT all Christians. Damnit. Please, if you must, use 'evangelicals' or 'fundies' or anything else than 'Christians'. quankanne
That is not my point, my point is : Why don't christians "police" themselves? Rid their establishment of the hateful greed filled hypocrites such as Robertson ect. you mean chase the moneychangers from the temple? :D doesn't matter how often you do that, there are going to be five more for everyone you roust out. It also doesn't help that the secular media feeds off idiots like Pat Robertson because it's not interested in showing anything but "news" about people and incidents that are not the norm, thus making them seem the norm. As Hokey says, there are many decent Christians out there – and decent folk from other spiritual walks of life, but they're never going to get their 15 minutes of fame because they're simply not controversial enough. my thought is that if you ignore them long enough, they'll go away because there's no audience to entertain. I could never live in an area I read some of you here describing. Where I live, prostitution is legal, liquor is available 24 hours a day, everyday, and there are adult bookstores everywhere. Even most mini-marts have pornography. with the exception of legal prostitution, you can find that stuff anywhere in this country if you really want it badly enough. Ive watched our current president rally the right wing christian movement . And laws of church and state became issues as well as rights of marriage while the "real" issues our country is facing seemed to fall away from the media attention possibly you've become more aware of these things because you're looking at it from a different viewpoint, as a tax-paying adult who realizes she's got a vested interest in what's going on in her government/world around her. I felt the same way about Clinton. I don't think he's a bad person, just incredibly stupid for keeping pussy at the forefront of the national mind and media that I got annoyed for being bombarded with that crap. Thank God they only are allowed to serve for eight years, and they fade from our minds as soon as the next one is seated! as far as the "right wing Christian movement" taking over ... well, their 15 minutes of fame has to end sometime, just like everyone else's. People in this country, bless their little hearts, have short attention spans and move from one issue or crisis to the next as quickly as the secular media manufactures it.
