femme
Everyday I pretty much cry over how fat i feel. I'm 5'2 and my weight fluctuates between 108 - 111 lbs. I know I'm not over-weight, but being 90 lbs to 100 lbs for years and years, this is making me feel horrible. My tummy seems to increase by the day. My thighs are jiggly and my biceps seem swollen. Not to mention my face seems like a balloon. I keep telling myself I'll exercise/walk, but I feel like nothing will work. And it depresses me even more. My husband keeps telling me I'm crazy, but I feel so ugly when I look in the mirror. Looking at old pictures depresses me even more. I don't eat a lot. But I don't understand why I feel fat... apart from lack of exercise. What should I do to motivate myself to exercise? What exercises should I be doing? And what kind of diet plan should I follow to increase my metabolism like before? I heard there are foods (like soybean, apples, oranges, berries, grapefruit, etc.) that burn fat. Is that true? I'd do anything to be a 100lbs again. Please help.
Tangerina
I'm 5'2' and 130 and I'm not fat.... I'm not skinny either (but I am at a good BMI for my height)... but it sounds as if you actually are really really skinny. I just calulated your BMI and you are at around 20, which is at the lower end of the healthy range... it is a good weight for your size.... at 100 lbs you would be in the "underweight" range, which is not healthy.... and at 90 lbs you are way underweight for an adult.... I deffinitely think you should exercise since it is good for you and everyone should, but I sincerely doubt that your face looks like a balloon and you should reconsider losing weight... you are at a healthy weight for your size but if you lose anymore you will be underweight.... it sounds as if you have more of a self image problem than a weight problem... talk to your dr and maybe they can help you find ways to tone up and reassure you that you are at a good weight
Author femme
Thanks Tangerina. That helps a bit. I guess I feel really guilty for not working out everyday. I feel guilty for eating even. Not that I eat a lot. I've stopped eating fried foods. I've cut down on coke (only a glass after a few days...compared to a can everyday.) The only thing I can't seem to give up on is sweets. I have to have something sweet to eat after dinner. I usually have quaker oats for breakfast...but I can't have it without sugar. I try to drink green tea a few times a day to help me feel 'lighter', but I can't take a single sip without sugar. I only eat a slice of wholewheat bread per day. But when there's pizza for supper, I can't resist it. Can anyone suggest any websites, or diets from personal experience that can help me follow a plan? That'd be great! Spleen
Try not to think so much in terms of weight, but fitness. I had taken a dance/aerobics class for about 4 months last year, which was twice a week, and I ended up gaining a little over a pound by the end. However, I had lost about 3 lbs of fat, and simply replaced it with muscle, and I looked way better, more toned, than previously. Gaining some weight is not necessarily bad, and being active is the best way to control your figure. Also, developing good eating habits, acquiring a taste for healthy foods helps tremendously. I was raised on things like tofu, veggies, etc., and was almost never allowed to eat junk food or most processed foods. I am thankful now, although I hated it then, because I love eating healthy foods. I love sweets, too, but the key is balance. I see my friends drinking sodas and eating fast food all the time, and they wonder why they don't lose weight even though they work out so much. Honestly, fast food and soda disgusts me, although I will have the occasional McDonald's fries (bleh!), or Whopper Jr., but rarely (like a couple times a year). If you kept a food log and tracked how many grams of fat and sugar you're ingesting per day, it would open your eyes to what you're putting into your body. Read the book Fast Food Nation, you'll never look at processed foods the same way again.
broken_doll_18
I don't eat a lot. But I don't understand why I feel fat... apart from lack of exercise. What exercises should I be doing? And what kind of diet plan should I follow to increase my metabolism like before? Please help. right first of all you must eat 3 times a day before you can loose weight, just a healthy breckfast like porrage with a banana and fresh orange etc, dinner have a salad with a light dressing one again drink fresh fruit or water. for your main meal eat what ever you like but only have a smallish portion, dont drink fizzy drinks as they contain a large amount of sugar. exercise ...... start off by walking, walk to the shop, and if you take a bus or mini cab to work get out before you normally do. on a weekend go for a light jog, this way you wont be rushing in to exercise. after you have done this for a few weeks maybe consider going to a gym. but i can promise you, give this a try for 3/4 weeks and you will feel the benefit. good luck xxxxxx bd:D
