whats wrong with me
I know how hard it is to leave an abusive relationship and stay gone. I went from earning roughly $2000 a week to earning $200 (if I was lucky) With children it is almost impossible to make it, even with welfare. Most shelters and "advocates" will not tell abused women there is a fund for them. I dont even know why... Whatever State you live in find out what the requirements are for "CRIME VICTIMS FUND" In Alabama, there are 3 requirements #1 make a police report #2 get an exparte PFA (protection from abuse) order #3 you stay in a domestic violence shelter for 10 days. You then mail some forms (the shelter should help), and if approved you receive 1000 (not to blow) but to help you get on your feet, rent, deposit etc. Missouri Crime Victems start at $1000 - *$20,000 (*dont get your hopes that high thats for the relatives of the deceased) There are many programs like that to help again I have no idea why the shelters and advocates dont tell women. Had I known that there was all this help I would have left sooner and much more prepared.. (I never made police reports til it was to late) You might not want to go to a "shelter" but they arent what you would expect, if you need to stay longer you usually can.
Curmudgeon
and they're partially funded by the federal Victims of Crime Program. The benefits vary (for instance, up to $70K here) but most are run through district attorney's or city attorney's offices, many of which have Victim/Witness Advocates who help you with claims and the court processes. Benefits are to compensate for losses or needs not covered by other sources such as insurance. Many have an emergency grant program to meet immediate needs such as moving, paying deposits, help with transportation, etc.

Author whats wrong with me
Dedicated to all battered women By Paulette Kelly I got flowers today! It wasn’t my birthday or any other special day. We had our first argument last night. And he said a lot of cruel things that really hurt. I know that he is sorry and didn’t mean to say the things he said Because he sent me flowers today. I got flowers today! It wasn’t our anniversary or any other special day. Last night he threw me into a wall and then started choking me. It seemed like a nightmare, but you wake up from nightmares to find they aren’t real. I got flowers today! It wasn’t Valentine’s Day or any other special day. Make up and long sleeves didn’t hide the cuts and bruises this time. I couldn’t go to work because I didn’t want anyone to know - but I know he’s sorry Because he sent me flowers today. I got flowers today! And it wasn’t Mother’s Day or any other special day. Last night he beat me again, and it was much worse than all the other times. If I leave him now, what will I do? How will I take care of the kids? What about money? I’m afraid of him, but I’m too scared and dependent to leave him. But he must be sorry Because he sent me flowers today. I got flowers today... Today was a very special day - It was the day of my funeral. Last night he finally killed me - I was beaten to death. If only I would have gathered the courage and strength to leave him. The women’s shelter could have helped me, but I didn’t ask for their help. So I got flowers today...for the last time.
