AJS
Well it depends on where you are and whom you are with. Let's say....If you were to go to a wedding, that's a good topic to start the convo with (shared event), then move on to "hi, my name is.."so what do you do for a living, hobby, etc business conference? You talk shop, when that gets old, find an opening to throw in something different, go with it. Dinner at the girlfriend's family house? You QUICKLY found out what her parents are into and stick with that topic the most. All in all it's not that hard. You meet a stranger, you are waiting at the post office with her/him you just bring something up, nothing to deep, nothing lame. This works on the nice people only....lol Then there is always the internet, do some research on conversations, getting to know people.
