Lonestar
I can't believe how sick I am. I've been feeling down for a couple days and yesterday midday at work a fever spiked and I had to go home. I spent the rest of the afternoon and night delerious in bed. I feel better this morning, but not enough to go to work or anything. The stupid thing about this is that I had my flu shot, so how the hell did I get the flu? I'm crawling back into bed now. Hope everyone is doing well.
jen4
I'm sorry you have gotten the flu. I had it about 2 months ago and so did my daughter. There is this homeopathic medicine sold at walmart called oscilloccinum-I'm looking at the box- it worked great for the fever chills and achiness. Its a capsule filled with some granules-looks like sugar, they dissolve on your tongue. It's worth a shot. Hope you're feeling better shortly. Jen

whichwayisup
Feel better soon! I HATE being sick, so I feel for how you're feeling. Drink lots of water, get some gatoraid too. And sleep as much as you can.
soar eyes
Lonestar, I just got over the flu that gave me a severe sinus and inner ear infection. I stayed in bed for 7 days and this is going on the third week that I am finally feeling half way back to my usual self. I still feel weak. Take lots of water, orange juice, tea, NSAID, and treat your symptoms. Try and eat something and take some vitamins. Nothing beats sleep when you have the flu. Hope you feel better
Author Lonestar
Thanks everyone, for the sympathy and the laughs. I can't get out of bed for too long. Maybe 15 minutes and then the pillow calls again. This probably would have been a lot worse if I didn't get my flu shot. soar eyes, I don't even want to think about a possible sinus infection following this crap. I had one of those two years ago that knocked me on my ass for 2 weeks. I went through two rounds of antibiotics and right after that came down with a stomach flu - one of those where you can't even move an inch or you'll vomit. Hopefully, this will only last another day and I'll be back to my normal twisted self. Carry on, folks...
Outcast
Every time I got a 'flu shot, I got the 'flu that year. I take multivitamins, exercise, and try to eat right so I'm trusting my immune system to defend me until I'm so old that I need extra help.
jen_jen_heartbroken
Lonestar, Have you called your doc to get some Tamiflu? It rocks. Eat some chicken soup, drink some OJ and remember to take some tylenol for that fever. And get better soon!

I've been getting the shot every year for about 5 years now. I'm terrified to do without after coming down with a case several years ago that was so bad I was almost hospitalized. jen_jen_heartbroken
Thanks. Sorry we spat before. But as I am still recovering from being very sick, I know how bad it sucks. For all the medicine out there, nothing eases the aches and pains of the flu or other infection like a good hot shower, followed by a cup of cocoa.

I didn't consider it a spat at all. I knew exactly what you were going through because I've been there before. It's a deep hole to crawl out of, but you did it. Be very proud, girl!! Outcast
Actually, take it easy. Don't rocket back into your regular routine. Two of my friends neglected themselves and didn't really slow down enough when they had the flu and they ended up with serious complications. The 'flu virus can travel to other organs and do them damage.

The 'flu virus can travel to other organs and do them damage. Thanks OC. I plan on taking it easy for the rest of the weekend. In other words, my plans to go out tomorrow night will be replaced with staying home and doing my taxes. Joy I'm just glad I'm feeling human again. My bed has my body imprint on it. Time to flip the mattress.
