Seperation

Recommended Posts

My Parents have been married for 30 years, my dad now is in heavy debt although he is on his way clear of it, he earns around £25,000 a month and has no savings (the idiot), the problem been that, we have just found out that he has been to a soliciter and plans to moves out of the rented house the we are all living in. My Mum has not got a job and is 58 years old, how can she possably get a job now. So really question is, is he aloud to leave us with nothing or can we arrest some of his wages to survive.

I don't see any responses to this thread - probably b/c your are in the UK and maybe no one really has the answers you are seeking. I'll do my best, but it sounds like you need legal advise from a professional. Get it right away even if you have to put the costs on a credit card! I'd never say that except to pay for medical expenses and legal expenses. Do not delay!

On the other points, dude, your dad makes cash - like big time. If he's making 25K a month and he's leaving his child and his child's mother, western society does not smile on such people and does not treat them kindly in court. Are your mom and dad married? If so, I'm sure you've got legal recourse. If he's not married, how long have they been living together? In some states in my country (US) there is a notion of common law marriage where if you live with a woman in a sexual relationship for long enough, you are considered married. Having a child with that woman only cements the concept.

Again, do whatever it takes to get legal help as soon as possible. I hope this helps and I'm sorry that this group doesn't have the expertise to be of more help.
