J Posted August 27, 2001 Posted August 27, 2001 can anybody tell me what a girl means by sparks in a relationship? Is it being best friends first and then lovers second? Or is the intial attraction that fades and then reignites itself? Can you always find somebody with whom you have a great time with,share the same values and views. Is this what is meant by 'sparks'?

The sparks, or fireworks, are what one feels around the beloved with whom one is passionately in love. There is a longing to be with that person, the heart pounds loudly when the person is close, and there is a sadness upon parting. Those feelings and symptoms are usually absent from a platonic friendship, although that does not diminish the importance of good friendships. It just makes romantic interludes a whole lot more filled with sparks and far more sought after. You have obviously never been in love or you would know the answer to this question without asking. I hope you get there soon. It's great!!!
