BeckyBeck
Has any other ladies here had vaginal itching that wouldn't stop? I have had this for about 3 weeks now or maybe close to a month. I know I need to get checked by a doctor and plan on doing so. However getting ready to start and I don't think they check you while on your peroid. Plus I'm just getting over being sick. Anyway it started out like a cut/scratch looking place. I guess as it tried to heal, it would itch so I would scratch, which may have caused it become worse. then it would get flaky looking dry skin around the area. Its not at the vaginal opening, but more like around the top of the cl*t. The thing is now it looks to be another tiny cut like place on the other side. Its kind of red/sore too probably from scratching. Every so often I will see a little tiny red looking bump in the area of the cut, but then the next day it doesn't look as visiable. What might cause these cut/scratch looking places for no apprent reason too? Anyone else had this before?
JadeStar
Do you have any type of discharge or odor? I was going to say maybe a yeast infection but not sure if you can one without having discharge etc. Have you changed soaps or laundry detergents? How about pads/tampons are they scented? I had to switch to unscented pads/tampons, because they would break me out. I had no clue for the longest time that was what was causing my problem. I'm not sure what would cause a cut/scrape unless you cut yourself and didn't realize it. As far as a tiny bump like you mentioned, not sure on that. But yes you at least need to get checked out. 3 weeks to a month sounds like to long for this to continue. Jade
Outcast
I can't believe you let this go this long without getting treated. Nobody can tell you what's wrong or what to do here because nobody's a doctor. Go see yours ASAP.
whichwayisup
Go to the DR. It could be a yeast infection, you could have an ingrown pubic hair that has caused an infection or something worse... I don't know how old you are or if you're sexually active. If you have had sex, either way definately go to the DR and get a physical done. Whatever it is, is getting worse and that's not good.
Citizen Erased
stop scratching it! Go to your doc immediately and get it checked out. But definetely scratching it has made it worse (how many of us have scars from scratching when we had chicken pox - despite what our mothers said!) so make an appointment asap

Nobody can tell you what's wrong or what to do here because nobody's a doctor. Go see yours ASAP. I know no one here is a doctor. I'm not looking for an actual diagnosis by you all. I asked if anyone had had this problem before. I also said that the reason I had not been to the doc yet was I had been sick. I started itching a few days before I ever got sick. Passed it off as a yeast infection the first few days, then I got strep throat, and couldn't go. After I got better from the strep a few days later I had a sinus infection. Sorry if they sound like excuses to you, but I hardly think its good to go when you have a fever of 102 and can barely hold your head up. I also just started and they can't see me till I'm done with my peroid. I already called and have an appointment next week.
JadeStar
Its good you're going to the doctor. Its always good to try and go as soon as something like this comes up if you can because you just never know. Also hopefully its just a yeast infection, and nothing else. There have been times when women thought they had a yeast infection with all the classic signs and come to find out it was something totally different than what they thought. So many things can mimick each other, so better to get checked out. Hope all goes well. Jade
whichwayisup
Good to hear you're going to the DR. In the meantime, have a bath with baking soda. Let us know how it goes with the DR. And, hope that sinus infection/strep clears up. Yuk. I've had those before so I feel for how s***ty you must be feeling.
BeckyBeck
Hi, I made a post last week referring to vaginal itching and others thinking it was a yeast infection. I went to the doctor and thats what it was. They got me to swab the area so the doctor could look at the cells/bacteria/organisims or whatever it is they look for under the microscope. Plus she also looked at me exteranally. However, when she came in, she didn't right away say you have a yeast infection. She came in and wanted to know what had been going on and the symptoms etc. I told her and said I thought I got it from the antibiotic I had been on, becasue I usually have a reaction to those. My medical doctor that I saw when i was sick, had put me on one day pill of diflucan. When I saw my ob/gyn she said she was surprised the diflucan didn't work becasue it was strong, but some people it might not work for. Any way she did end up saying I had a yeast infection, but that she didn't see by viewing the sample I gave her under the microscope that it was your typical candida albicans. She said there are three different types of yeast that women have. However what was odd to me was, she said the other two she couldn't pronounce. I thought that was odd for a doctor. Anyway she put me on a 3 day treatment cream interanlly and exteranlly called terazol. I looked it up and it is for yeast infections. She did say if after a week or so, if symptoms were worse or had not gone away to call her. My question is, if it wasn't the typical candida yeast then what are the other types? Does anyone know? Outcast
What Are the Most Common Types of Vaginal Infections? The 6 most common types of vaginal infections are: * Candida or "yeast" infections * Bacterial vaginosis * Trichomoniasis vaginitis * Chlamydia vaginitis * Viral vaginitis * Non-infectious vaginitis from WebMD Coolnurse says 80% of yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans and the rest are caused by other types of Candida. Sassy
I think the poster was talking about the three types of yeast that the dr was telling her, not the types of vaginal infections. The dr said that candida albicans was not what she had .
Outcast
Yes and the other yeast infections are, as I said, caused by other varieties of Candida.
RecordProducer
Please note that Trichomoniasis, Chlamydia, and many others are NOT yeast. They are various viruses and bacteria. Most of them belong to the STD's and you cannot get them from "nothing" - like the yeast infection. Candida Albicans is the most prevalent yeast; hence the doctor's "ignorance" about the other two. They normally live in the vagina, but if the vaginal flore gets disturbed, its ph balance may change so the yeast spreads (grows). The type of food you consume and work of hormones have a lot to do with yeast infections (google it if interested).

Thats not what I have. As I said the doctor did say it was yeast, I just thought it was odd she couldn't tell me what the other two were, since she said she did not find the Candida Albicans to be the one she found. For that matter if she couldn't pronounce them like she said looks like she could have wrote it down. No its not that big of a deal being that it was yeast, but was just wondering what the other types/names of them were. The cream she put me on, has done the trick though, seems to be much better. There was a few days there where I really wanted a wire brush, LOL. RP I got it from the penicillan I was on. Thanks again.
